Kinda out there but anyone think they might drop again around first three months of the year? I heard LCD and plasma screen makers are gonna have a massive price war in the closing year.

Which I guess is now... :p

Meh.....still happy with the Dell 24" that I got for $700 and change. The price drops take the ACD from unreasonably expensive to uncomfortably expensive.

Now add a 15.2" widesceeen 1280x854 Apple display--CHEAP--for Mac Minis and call it a day :) Could be 17", but for the sake of the Mini, CHEAP is more important. After all, some people still buy 1024x768 displays.

Some one-stop solution must replace the eMac....

With a connection bracket on the back for connecting the Mac Mini and bam...All in one cheap consumer model that Apple can offer with and without the mini.

Just don't make it like Dell's AIO concept along the same lines.

Nice to see this one as well. Mind you, Apple pretty much had to drop the prices just to stay competitive with the rest of the market.

That 30" is slowly getting closer to my price range! ;)

Ah, I see you already got one. Cool. Good you didn't pay list, otherwise this would suck now. Anyway, are you happy with it?

Yeah, I would be uber pissed...

This is my third 30-inch display. The first one had pixel anomolies and the second one blew up. Literally. Within a week.

Crossing my fingers on this one. ;)

Third time is the charm?...

Shame that Dell keeps dropping so quickly that Apple prices look so drab. I really wish Apple would do for large LCDs what they have done for 4gig solid state drives.

Yeah, what Shard said. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :)

um. No regrets with buying a 20" in June. I still wouldn't have been able to afford the 23"! I am glad to see that apple is making an effort to reasonably price their absurdly un-necessary 30" monitor though.

What do you guys think... sell my 23" on eBay and pickup a 30" or go for a second 23" ?

Ken

I bet new displays are coming around the corner in the next 6 months or so. More features and better resolution at a lower price. I am tempted but I think I'll wait.

What 17" inch? There hasn't been a 17" screen since the Displays were refreshed with these new silver displays.
I think that was their point - They wish Apple would come out with a 17" (as do I)

I really thought the event today was going to update the cinema display line and make it compatible with photobooth. It seems a shame that only new iMac owners get to play with this new software!

new monitors just before christmas

20" $599
24" $1099
30" $1499
dual 30" $2499

all with isight built in and firewire 400/800 hub

i know, keep dreaming :)

I think it's still a bit too soon for that. Apple wants to put focus on the iMac as being unique in this respect, as their "home theater" solution with Front Row, Photobooth, etc. I think it will eventually come, but not for a while, just like Front Row... not that it would be hard to do, but regardless....

Yep, pleasant dreams indeed. :p ;) There is no way Apple would update the display line now, especially not after just doing a price drop like this. I think we'll have to wait until 2006 to see any new displays.

I was REALLY hoping the 20-inch model would drop to $699, but oh well. I guess it's time to finally buy one. :D Or maybe I should go for the 23-inch with edu discount...

I used to think this way.

I can't imagine doing my job without one now.
