I see people complain about this often, but don't understand it. From a customer perspective, why is the number of SKUs an issue? Wouldn't having the choice of multiple phones be more beneficial? How is this a negative?
What innovation do you want to see in the smartphone space? Honest question, no sarcasm intended.
Agreed! I think I’ve only ever gone to about 35-40 GB on my iPhone 7 128 and that was only when Netflix enabled downloads and I went download crazy.Come on, 32GB enables more than "a few" pieces of music, photos and video...
The average Hard drives until 2004 was smaller than 32GB and you had bloated desktops and desktop apps on that.
Most people will be streaming music, photos and storing their videos in the cloud.
What you need 64GB for is apps bloat (and all their data).
I've got a 64GB 6s and I'm about at 32GB and that's while not really removing anything since I bought it 2 years ago.
People often think they need more space than they actually use (and phone companies exploit this by upselling you the next level).
Shouldn't roaming not be an issue anymore inside the EU?For this goal alone Apple should ad a flash card reader. Also dual sim. Especially here in Europe where you can be in a different country in about 25 miles (yes the Netherlands is a small country).
Two of the five countries had the same leader since the fall of the Sowjet Union more than 25 years ago. Another had the same leader for coming up close to twenty years. Only Armenia and Kyrgyztan had several changes of power (though those in Armenia have been murkier).I know.
I’d wager Armenia isn’t in charge and the whole thing has not exactly EU-grade democratic standards.
Macrumors repeats this incorrect information literally every time they put out an article about the iPhone SE. They've copy pasted this same error dozens of times. It's pretty sad that every article the error is pointed out but they've never bothered to correct it.Wait what? Since when Apple made the baseline SE 64GB? It’s still 32GB. The only iPhones with 64GB baseline are the 8/8 Plus and X.
Many tech you tubers and bloggers are also making that wrong assumption. It’s as if nobody bothered to just go and check Apple’s website.
Great

I don’t understand posts like this. Apple has been objectively improving iPhones steadily every year, especially when it comes to screens. The difference between LCD and OLED is (literally) night and day. The home bar is objectively faster at navigating iOS than the home button.
As for essentially everything else you’ve mentioned, that’s never happening. Apple’s market doesn’t want rugged durable devices. It seems like you want Apple to be a company they’re not.
The hyperbole that TouchID is the last useful feature that Apple has added needs to end.
Great

I’m about the same... I seem to end up with just about 32-35 used on my 64G. I got 256 on my iPP because I like to download movies for long flights, but I think that was overkill.Agreed! I think I’ve only ever gone to about 35-40 GB on my iPhone 7 128 and that was only when Netflix enabled downloads and I went download crazy.
Of course, I never even watched half of those downloads...
Right now I’m at 21 GB - and regretting the extra money I spent on a load of storage that I’ve never even gone close to using.
I would’ve been happy with 64GB though - sadly that was never an option for the 7.

If it is all screen design like the X I get one. If it is another reincarnation of the iPhone 5 than no thanks.
It's not gonna be the A11. It'll be the A10 so it doesn't outshine the iPhone 7 they still sell. And you're really kidding yourself if you think they'd put the A11 Bionic in it. That'd totally kill sales of the current 8. Not a move they're going to make.
AppiPad Pro??
The market of SE is people who love smaller screen for easier one hand use.
But would the Eurasian Economic Commission need to certify all variants and not just the ones sold in its member countries?Five Page in and No useful information on the SKUS.
1. Colours and Storage Size dont have a new Model number, Model Number are mostly based on Supporting Network and Bands. That will be mainly Modems, and Network supporting parts.
2. iPhone X currently has 3 Models, iPhone 8 has 4, and iPhone 8 Plus has 4 as well.
3. iPhone X has three models, split between Intel and Qualcomm Modem, and a special model for supporting bands only used in Japan. I am not sure if the Front End RF parts of this is ready, but assuming Apple uses only Intel Modem in the next iPhone, it is possible that there will only be one model for the whole world, and one for Japan due to shutter sound in camera.
4. There is also the problem of Dual Sim... which might make a new Model number,
Music used to be my largest storage need, but that is growing only slowly and below 30 GB. Then apps become the largest component and while they are growing in size all on their own (as features get added) what I add myself is only in the order of one app per week. What is the largest part now is images (and videos) which have grown past the 50 GB iCloud bracket. One reason for this is that I now put all my photos taken with non-phone cameras (DSLRs, mirrorless) into the Photos library on my Mac and as a consequence also on my phone.Agreed! But there often is just one variant sold in any particular country (at least in the non-CDMA countries). And if I had to guess, I'd say the post-Sowjet countries are non-CDMA countries and thus their regulatory agency would only need to certify one variant. There isn't variant per country apart from China and Japan. They are mostly just CDMA Supporting Model and non Supporting Models.
I'm still hoping we see something of a lower end phone to replace the SE next week. I'm considering replacing my parents phones for them since they refuse to do it themselves and I'd like to get them some newer tech than the current SE.What ever happened to this story? Seems pretty legitimate and a good indicator of what we might see... Why is nobody mentioning this anymore with WWDC right around the corner? None of the analysts are saying anything about phone hardware at the event at all...just talking about how there won’t be Mac or iPad hardware...
