An iPad Pro Mini with the same pricing as the current mini or the current 11” would be great!

I know it’s unlikely but I’m hoping to see a redesign that uses the same design language as the new iPhones and iPads. I Skipped the series 5 because it was such a small upgrade and my 3 was doing fine. But now the 3 is starting to show its age so I’m definitely excited.

Redesign is more likely for the Series 8.

I'm excited to see what's in store either way. I don't care waiting for a Mini-LED Pro as the 2018 Pro design, power, and capabilities were already my dream iPad (I had wanted an iPad like this since the first iPad was even released.)
*And let's face it, both the A12X and A12Z are STILL are faster and more robust than 90+% of portable devices or computers/laptops.

I don’t know what to think about this.

If they update the iPad Pro it would make sense from a “keeping the pro the best” perspective.

I don’t think the iPad Pro will be updated yet as it is already a screamer, and when AS Macs land people will be comparing the benchmarks between an AS Mac and iPad Pro. I would expect the iPad Pro to be updated when the second round of AS Macs lands next year sometime. If they do update iPad Pro before AS Mac lands, then AS Macs are going to be crazy fast.

However, updating the Air to an A12X/Z would reduce the value proposition for the Pro a little as many don’t care about Lidar.

Similarly, updating the base iPad to A12 reduces the value proposition for the Air.

However, A12 should be considered the absolute minimum for an iOS device now as significant AR features require a minimum A12. So I am expecting the base iPad to be updated.

I would prefer if the iPads all went to annual upgrades like the iPhone, with iPad A12, iPad Air/Mini A12z, iPad Pro A13X this year ;)

The earlier iPad Pro 2020 might have got A12Z due to delayed availability of A13X...?

A new Air with Pencil2 support whilst keeping TouchID and Lightning would be great for my son.

This has me a little nervous as I'm watching to see if there's an iPad mini announcement before I pull the trigger. The 5th Gen iPad in my signature currently was only ever supposed to be the iPad I beta test new iPadOS releases on; it's my only iPad currently, which is REALLY constraining since it's a 32GB model.

I would be shocked if Apple updated both the Air and the standard "iPad" simultaneously. But I suppose the former is due for something and the latter needs to ditch the aging A10 for something else.

Watching for a real iPad Pro update...

They're not releasing it so soon after the last update. They're not bound to release iPads on a schedule and they have no history of releasing multiple iPad Pro launches (of the same sizes) within the span of a year.

I would be super surprised if Apple updated iPad Pros after their recent refresh in the spring. Then again, substantially updating iPad Air now could negatively affect iPad Pro sales, so go figure. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Apple won't be updating the iPad Pro here. There are three iPads on the lower-end that are prime for an update. An update of the iPad Air to an A12 variant that ditches the home-button, lacks TouchID, lacks the top speakers, lacks ProMotion, and provides for TouchID either under-screen or on the home button will still be considered enough of an upgrade without cannibalizing sales of the 11" iPad Pro. Though, frankly, they currently have way too many 10.2-11" iPads right now.

I checked last summer’s ipad leak from this Russian (“Eurasian”) thingy against the actual models that were subsequently released, back then of the 5 leaked SKUs 2 were about the then soon to be released 10.2” ipad but 3 were about the 2020 11” ipad pro that would come like almost a year later.
And yes one row in the table meant one model, so we’re looking at 2 ipads in this case too.
iPad 10.2” (A11? A12?)
iPad Air (still A12? A13?) with usb-c

question is will the new usb-c Air really be out in September..we’ve seen leaked marketing material..
