I always find this kind of copying incredibly frustrating.

I have several (pretty) original game ideas, but lack the talent and/or time to ever finish them - have several half-finished games over the years.

And then you have all these guys who clearly have a talent for building games in very little time, but no originality to go with it.

Contact the talented developers and get your ideas finished.

Did the developers of Flappy Bee ever return the artwork they "stole"?

Why do people like this so much?? This/these games are frustrating, repetitive, and monotonous! At least Temple Run changes over time, gets more difficult, with new scenes and all.

I wonder how this will affect all the other obvious clones of various games on the app store. It always bothered me that there was no direct way to report apps that are obviously spam or are blatant copyright infringement (you know... just the low-quality ones ;)).

I really don't understand why this doo doo game is still getting media coverage.

seems strange.
so many Flashlight Apps
Fart apps.

unless they are doing this as the developers are making money with iAds and Apple doesn't want to dilute the "appeal" of iAds.

maybe they aren't actually iAds, not too sure in these games.

Apple removes apps based on flappy bird that use cloned art. But flappy bird itself used cloned art from Nintendo and Apple didn't remove that. Some major double standards there.

Copyrighted material is up to the copyright owner to ask be taken down.

Flappy Bee, the aforementioned app that used stolen artwork and managed to make its way to the top of the App Store charts, has, however, had its name changed to Jumpy Bee,

This artwork was stolen from Bee Leader which two good friends of mine here in New Zealand made and have won many awards for.

If apple stopped clone style games then Flappy Bird wouldn't even exist. They should really be protecting their developers.
Candy Crush Completely ripped off a game called Candy Swipe(released 2 years before candy crush) yet candy crushes success has allowed them to completely destroy candy swipe and it's developer. It's really a bummer that this type of behavior is allowed.

Well people keep downloading these clones for some reason.

This bandwagon is done, time to move on to something else...

What is up with this flappy bird madness? I played it once, and I really don't understand what the fuss is about. Such a boring game.

And today, on this dutch selling site (something like eBay), I saw people are offering their iPhones or Sony phone for sale for €1.000+ just because it has Flappy Bird installed...

So the 'entrepreneurial spirit' of making a quick opportunistic buck (or €) is not just confined to North America…..? :D

Didn't have to. Not only did the developer pull the app before Apple would have, but Nintendo said they didn't care about the allegedly cloned artwork.

Flappy Bee, the aforementioned app that used stolen artwork and managed to make its way to the top of the App Store charts, has, however, had its name changed to Jumpy Bee, suggesting that Apple may also be asking some existing clone apps to change their names to put an end to the Flappy frenzy.

So let me get this straight, having a similar name to another app is a problem, but using stolen artwork isn't? Wow. Nice job, Apple.

My fav one is Flippy Fish because of the upside down controls, even more frustrating!

Seems so xD I dunno who'd buy one though..
Btw, isn't a game you downloaded kinda linked to your Apple ID? So buying a secondhand phone, means you probably won't be able to user the original owners' account etc.
