Why did the Queen song immediately start playing in my head, "I wantt it all. I want it all. I want it all. And I want it now!"
Sorry to break it to you but you'r behind the times. Windows is nothing like that. But we do have power user nice tricks. and we do have applets. Did I mention we have apps as well, and LOTS of them. I hope that decisions like these (bad ones) will break this brain dead dumb Apple everywhere mindset. They make great phones. I love my watch. But that's what they care about and what they are good at. Take the rest of your business to people who are working for it and want it.If that’s the “only” thing keeping you with Apple then go ahead and don’t let the door hit you. You will enjoy all the little brainfarts that permeates Windows in various regards (settings, UI, scaling, power user nice little tricks and applets, etc.) compared to macOS.
Not sure how that’s relevant.
So if you thought that's where we were 15 years ago, You would be amazed about where we are today. Windows is LIGHT YEARS ahead of where it was 15 years ago or even 5. I love my iPhone, but you'd have to pry my Windows PC out of my cold dead hands. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
...That would be an extremely petty decision, it would only hurt Valve financially, and Apple has no reason to care what Valve does.If I were Valve I would - how was that? - put on the big pants and simply remove Steam from Mac OS. That would probably once and for all remove the little traction Mac gaming had.
Ask Steam to get the android app on the Amazon App store. Then you can play your games on a much cheaper FireTV 4K. That will show Apple.I was going to buy another Apple TV just so I could play my steam games in the conservatory now summer is coming. Guess I won't be bothering now!
Probably is. Civ for example, is available in iOS. With this app, anyone can play the steam version, and wont need to buy the iOS version. Can't have silly ole' Valve eating into those App Store profits, now...
There is no forced update. If you chose not to install you can delete the update in settings.Disagree. How dare you. They won't do that.
Instead, crippling iPhone 6 and 7 performance and battery life with forced update and download (whatever you do, it will still download updates) IS the stupidiest and greediest.
You can already run Windows on your iPhone or your iPad or your Mac,and I am not talking about Remote desktop or Bootcamp. I'm talking about Virtualization. With Server Side programs like VMware Horizon or Citrix. With Server class performance. If you don't want the full Windows experience they can just send you just the App that you want. Like Microsoft Word or Excel. Here's the thing. This is no different that what Steam wants to do. There is absolutely no chance that Apple would have the guts and be stupid enough to stop Citrix or VMware from doing this. So why should Steam be any different. No one would be surprised if Apple didn't allow you to run Windows on your phone. Yet I would argue Windows is less a threat than a game platform to Apple's revenue.
None of this means I agree with Apple on these things of course... Apple should curate to protect users, not to protect Apple.
Having a monopoly on one part of a market isn’t a thing. Does Arby’s have a monopoly on Arby’s restaurants? How about McDonalds or Dairy Queen with their respective places?
Which is already possible with MoonlightProbably is. Civ for example, is available in iOS. With this app, anyone can play the steam version, and wont need to buy the iOS version.

Apple continues to be clueless about gaming.
Moonlight and R-Play are from individual developers that aren't actually affiliated with either Nvidia or Sony, so that could be a factor. The business conflict in question may have nothing to do with the basic streaming aspect.

Apple the new Microsoft? Not very surprising is it? If they remove the functionality to buy games within the app I think Apple might reconsider.
I must say though, this is the first time I’ve ever been remotely tempted to switch to Android.
Edit: The more I think about this, the less sense it makes. What are the potential users of this app (ie, people who play PC games) more likely to do - forget about PC games and buy Angry Birds 15 instead, or move to Android and continue playing PC games now with the ability to stream them to their iPadwannabes? I know what I think is more likely, and it doesn’t increase revenues for APPL. Even the probable most common outcome, that people continue playing PC games without the ability to steam to their iPad is neutral for Apple - there’s no benefit for them in any outcome.
