Hoping my HomePod mini will play news again as each time I ask it has said that I have no more episodes of this podcast to play and whilst all the news is predictable I think this is beyond the scope of the AI.

The problem I’ve had a number of times now is asking Siri to do something and having her say she can’t do that, and check the app for more details, and I look in the Home app at the HomePod Mini, and it says “the AppleID associated with this HomePod is not part of this home”. And I’m like WTF, Siri, it’s my home, and my AppleID, and my HomePod, and you didn’t have any trouble with this yesterday. And then it cleans up on its own a bit later. It’s not life threatening or anything, but it seems a bit ridiculous to let it out the door with such a bug.

As a software developer, I have a big problem with software that lies to the user, when it isn’t able to get the information it needs - don’t just assume the problem is the user’s fault and talk down to them. It also used to drive me nuts that the “purchased” page of the Mac App Store would say, “you haven’t purchased any apps” by default while it loaded information about what apps you’ve purchased - that’s a developer who’s okay with their software lying to the user because it’s less work for them than properly considering the circumstances and presenting a correct message (it’s like they’re afraid to say, “one moment please, loading information”).

Has anyone else noticed the grammar issues in Siri responses? Asking her to turn on the Dining room lights, and her response is Ok, the light are on..

I am hoping this fix clears that up..
Definitely! This has thrown me off many times cause it messes with my brain cause I always think: "Somethings not quite right with that"...

Was hoping this would fix siri being too quiet on the Mini, at 50% it sounds more like 25%... unfortunately no 😞

Report it to Apple. I’m not saying they’ll definitely do anything about it, but they’re not checking these forums, that’s a guarantee.

That goes for anyone on here who is not happy with the product for whatever reason.

Hopefully they added an EQ
It would be great if they did, but i don't think it will happen.

I don't know what Apple have against people having a speaker they like the sound of.

I truly hate the sound of the original HomePod, but if i stream to it from my MacBook where i can use the EQ i can get a pretty good sound out of it.

Hope this corrects the horrible delay and wrong messaging Siri gives. For example, "turn on living room light" Siri thinks about it, says it's trying, and then says there is a problem.

Right after stating that the light turns on....

This is pretty hilarious when you think about it.

"Open the pod bay doors, Hal."

"I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

(the pod bay doors start to open anyway...)

The likely reason for not having an EQ for HomePod or HomePod Mini (now or ever) is the computational audio trickery that Apple employs. I would imagine all the wave bouncing, etc. would be very hard to implement with user modify-able EQ settings.

Yep, or sometimes doesn’t show up when I attempt to airplay from my phone to it.
I have that too. And my network is large (19 access points on Cisco Meraki) on a 260 acre property. I walk from point A to point B where the HomePod is and in the handoff of my iPhone from AP to AP somewhere it says f it and loses track. So when I finally get to point B room and say Ok siri lights on its like oh sorry i cant find your phone. I just completed my first organic test of this and so far I am glad to say Siri is 1 for 1. I might have been hearing things but she sounded a bit prouder than normal this time.

Not at all. You can do any EQ to the audio signal BEFORE it goes into the computational audio.

Sometimes you just want to hear more bass, or more midrange. This is separate from any postprocessing Apple might do before it hits the speaker.

My HomePod always refers to my wife as "Secondary Six" when she interacts with it. For the record, her name is Heather. Anybody else seen this behavior?
