No it doesn't. See why IBM went from buying tens of thousands of cheap windows to replacing them all with macs. Support was virtually unneeded for macs and they could wait longer to replace them. They saved millions in the long run by switching to mac.

It's impossible. Google (or Microsoft) will dominate the public education market over the next decade. Apple hardware is simply too expensive for schools. When budgets are as tight as they are for most school districts, the fact that you can get 5 chromebooks for the cost of one MacBook Air means it would be terribly foolish for schools to buy macs.

I didn't expect that Apple would do this but it's great that they have, but it would be better if they brought Aperture back.

I'll go audit a class, and take this every day of the week over a Raw Image Editing app.

You can still purchase Lightroom outside of CC.

Or they can learn Darktable for free.

Not foolish. Macs last a lot longer. You get what you pay for.
Yep, the exact same components as a PC. They only appear to last longer because the exact same model is usually the current model still available to buy for years.

This is fantastic. I've been wanting to upgrade FCP 7 for the past year. Hopefully it will come to Japan.

I'll also get Motion back! I had the original and it was a lot of fun. I'm sure it's stonking now.

Well done Apple!

Anecdotally, my 2011 iMac is still going strong. My last two windows PCs before that barely lasted 2 years each.

If they all sport the same hardware, then there's something about the way Apple puts it together that evidently makes all the difference then.

My iMac has definitely more than paid for itself in the form of greater productivity and fewer problems overall.

Given how Apple no longer thinks the Mac lineup is worthwhile the attention and Cook gives statement like Why Do You Need A PC?

I am most surprised they still develop and sell pro applications

I completely understand that. IBM didn't give the laptops to children. also, I know my district for one has spent so much money writing software for windows that would be money lost and more money spent going to Mac. So our teacher computers will definitely stay windows based for the next 10 years.

Honestly, apple doesn't offer anything that is more enticing to k-12 schools than chromebooks do. I would absolutely love if my school gave me a Mac but I understand why they won't.

Im not going to spend $200 when say I only study music and need logic which is worth $150. I doubt anyone in film is doing music too.

Still expensive. When you work in education, most software via education discount is either free, costs few dollars or has %90-95 discounts, so paying $200 for this 'education' discount is still a typical rip off in Apple's fashion!!!

I ordered yesterday. Anyone else surprised that we have to wait 1-3 business days to get our download codes? Seems to me that what amounts to a digital download should have happened in minutes, not days.
