Got my codes :)

I am seeing all individual charges on my PayPal Credit account. I hope this doesn't affect my 6 month of no payments / interest deal.

Well I got the first email but not the second and sales department is closed. bummer guess I'll have to wait a few hours more.

How far apart where the two email, time wise?

They were both stamped 6:44 pm US Central Time. Maybe check your spam folder to see if the one you're missing didn't get bounced in there accidentally.

Yea I check, still not there. On the phone with apple. Lets see what happens....

Update... While on the phone the rep put a request in to resend that missing email. She also emailed me her contact information incase the problem persists which led to her email being kicked back. So maybe thats why I didn't get the second email. Provided her a second email so hopefully this will work.

Doesn't seem like this is in the same "segment" of education to me. Are there Chrome equivalents of Final Cut and Logic:confused: And would you want to run any of these pro media apps on that hardware (i.e. Chromebooks) , much less the software?
I wouldn't think so either. However, many computers are used for web surfing, typing up articles, email, documents. If you're doing media editing, you'll need a laptop. However, unless your school does primarily that, then a CB will suffice, and the savings are significant. I have no doubt that schools can afford them and do buy them, but unfortunately, more schools than not are in a budget crunch.

Real macs...Mac Pro minis and iMac.
Coming soon. Now that Intel has released CPUs worth upgrading-to.

You see, unlike most of the other guys, Apple doesn't just Upgrade to say they did it. And right now, Intel has been holding them back for almost a year.

But that is coming to an end, finally...

Ain't that the truth!

People should be salivating over this. This is an absolutely incredible deal. 200 dollars for those Apps... It simply can't be beat. I remember paying 1000 Dollars -- ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! -- just for Final Cut Pro waaaaaay back in the day.

Anybody complaining about this deal simply doesn't deserve to have access to it.

I hope this deal comes to Japan.
Or how about USD$50,000 for WebObjects?!? Believe it or not, that's what it was when first offered in the mid 1990s...

And just where did you find the info that fits Mac Pro?

On another forum about a month ago.

Apple has been waiting for Intel to release a Skylake-based Xeon, because it will have enough PCI-e lanes to do TB3, which the Mac Pro needs, and it has an architecture that works for the Mac Pro's overall design.

According to that person, Intel has just announced that Xeon is going into Production soon, like this Spring; so Apple obviously has Engineering Samples of that CPU to play with.

IMHO, it is therefore a "no brainer" to use it for a Mac Pro update.

Is this person reliable in terms of source wise?

They seemed to have some pretty in-depth knowledge of the nuances of the several Xeon variants, and what they meant as far as feasiblity for the Mac Pro's architecture. Apparently, not every Xeon variant is even close to being "alike" in that regard.

So, I'd put the rumor at a 70-80% probability.

However, this announcement seems to put the probability up to about 90-95%:

And this Wikipedia article about Skylake specifically mentions TB3 support, and has at least 10 references to Xeon variants:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylake_(microarchitecture)#Features

So, I think we are edging close to 100% "believeability" at this point... :)

Ordered the bundle yesterday, licensing information and serial numbers arrived today via email. Guess I got lucky!

Got mine as well.

Are you a student? Did it ask for your student ID or any other confirmation? Can you get it without being as student?

No, Apple doesn't ask for any confirmation that you're a student or faculty. You just check a box that says you're qualified and meet the requirements.

They randomly do audit some sales and if it turns out you are not qualified you may be billed the full amount or have your order cancelled (if it's before it ships). That's in their terms of service.

There'll be a big debate here if someone suggests an unqualified person ought to go buy something with the educational discount, but it is possible and dare I say likely it will work.

I've bought many things with the educational discount (when I was a student and now I'm a part time faculty) and have never had my order held up even once over the years, nor have I ever been asked to produce proof.

Hey guys, quick question

Do we have full usage rights on these programs? Can I use Final Cut Pro for personal projects outside school?

Thanks !

These are for codes to redeem on he Mac App Store ... not educational versions or crippled versions of any software. Once redeemed, they function as any other app you get through the Mac App Store.

So far I am loving FCPX! I am just a hobbyist and find Premiere way too complicated for my likes, FCPX is so much more intuitive! The only negative is I will likely never get my value worth out of Logic as I don't really need or have interest in any Music capabilities .... loaded it up anyway just in case.

No. I chatted with a rep about my situation. I wanted to purchase it for my daughter who has an Apple ID, but not linked to her .edu account. I made the purchase in my name, but linked the Shipping information to my daughter's name. They told me that if I were to get the audit questions, I could then provide her school and .edu email.

Which begs the question. What if you buy this bundle but don't need one or more of the apps. I assume there are separate codes to acquire each app from the Mac App Store? If so, then under the terms of the purchase, would it be possible to give away or even sell the unused codes to another person (teacher/student)?

(I myself would find only FCPX and Compressor useful.)

No, you are not permitted to give away or sell the codes. If you do, Apple can deactivate the software and your Apple ID.
