If anyone else wants to step up to the plate and produce a cheaper version (Belkin?) then they should go ahead and do so. Everything about Thunderbolt 1 and 2 was expensive.$49 for an adapter?! are you kidding me?!

This is cheaper, smaller, and twice as useful as the competition.**** Apple, this is all I can say.
Yes and according to https://thunderbolttechnology.net/tech/faq it sounds like everything should be compatible. Unusual but would be nice.I would get a card of the opposite brand as your dGPU.

I have it but I only used the Startech TB2 dock with the Startech adapter.
Is Thunderbolt 3 backwards compatible with Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2?
Yes, solutions and products built to Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 specifications will work with Thunderbolt 3 via an adapter.
The problem is not the adapter, but that rMBPs suck concerning ports.I am happy people are finally seeing through this adapter ********... Also, people saying this is cheaper than alternatives are missing the whole point...
And then people that never use Thunderbolt 1 or 2 would complain that they had to pay for something they didn't need and that would probably be the majority of users. Someone is always going to complain. If apple had respect for the customer base they would package these with the laptop.
rMBP always sucked.SO i have a question and i didn't quite understand in the keynote. I understand it has 4 TB3 ports, do i have to buy an adapter for lets say a USB stick or HDMI cable? If thats the case Ill have to carry about about 3-4 different cables / adaptors for the different connections OR are those ports able to accept all of those types of connectors from a USB, HDMI and so on? I say that right?

You can buy an USB-C thumb drive.Im taking that as if i wanted to plug in a USB thumb drive, i would need an adaptor?

You'll need an adapter for most thumb drives. Most are USB-A.

GFY Apple....
You will need some sort of adaptor for all the connections you mentioned. USB-C uses a different connection like this.SO i have a question and i didn't quite understand in the keynote. Apple is quickly becoming a novelty and accessory company.
