Yeah, I saw that. But, the box of the academic version states that it is not eligible for upgrades. I suppose I will just have to call Apple and figure out what I can do.

You should be fine, it's a different type of upgrade - one based on timing, not because you wanted the next version a year later.

It's a shame we have to pay to get support for the new cameras :(
Not like this in the alternative solutions out there.

I would have probably bought the update just to get the feature, but to have to buy it because of some marketing ploy is just shameless!

10.5.2 added support to Aperture 1.5 and iPhoto for a lot of new cameras. Which one in particular is supported by Aperture 2.0, but not Aperture 1.5 running on 10.5.2?

I thought the whole page was refreshed.....? If they did announced new A2, then they should've refreshed the website :p

They should have refreshed the site but haven't. The whole thing is still about 1.5.6. We can't see the new interface or read about any new features. Sometimes Apple can be pretty silly. :p

I will most definitely be buying myself a copy of this. Aperture so badly needed an update. Especially since Leopard came along as its been playing up with the OS a little bit

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A93 Safari/419.3)

The Apple site hasn't changed yet, I'd like to know what it runs on.

Its all updated now! Oooooohhhh shiney!

AWESOME news! Been waiting for this for a while. I'm actually quite happy with the current version, but am hoping for some nice performance increases with this. Can't wait to give it a try!

Here goes another $99 bucks, LOL. :D

They have posted a 30-day trial.

Downloading now to have a play with it.

Only 77.2MB, pretty small for a relatively high-power application.

the UK store is actually looking nicer for once with a nice tab thing showing the MBA, capsule and Office 08.

I wish they would update all parts for Aperture (well all products) instead of just updating the store first, it needs to be all at the same time Apple!

the release makes good sense to come out now specially since 10.5.2 gave more support to handling RAW files

Hrmm...anybody know how this will work...

I just purchased the academic version of Aperture 1.5. I haven't opened it yet as I am going to be receiving my new Mac Pro today. Will I be eligible for the upgrade ($10)? Or will I need to return it and buy the full-version (an additional $50)?

It appears that there is no longer an academic version, only the full $200 version.

From the Apple web page: "If you purchased Aperture 1.5 between January 1, 2008, and March 14, 2008, you are eligible to upgrade to Aperture 2 for US$9.95 (shipping and handling)."

Ha, the code they send you for the trial is for 1.5!

Ah well, I suppose I will have to request another one later.

Has anyone had any luck with the trial serial number?

True, but I am not sure if that applies to the academic version of Aperture 1.5.

I called Apple, and they told me that I should return the unopened software and repurchase the new version. I assumed that would be the case. That is one of the shortcomings of academic licenses.

I guess I should be happy that I can get my money back. This time I am going to order the full version now that it is only $200.

I'm totally getting it but I don't want to wait for it to arrive in the mail!

Does anybody know if retail has it yet?
