Anybody besides me thinking that the way Apple's handling the 2.0 launch is amateurish?
2 1/2 hours the store is down. When it comes up, the Aperture page is still 1.5.6. Then, when the aperture page is updated a while after, [added: the videos don't work, and] the download is still 1.5.6, not 2.0. And when the 2.0 dl is ready, they send you an old serial?

Sheesh!

Nice of Apple to give you the Aperture 1.5 trial serial which doesn't work with the 2.0 download

I've noticed that I get equally as excited about Apple's product pages as about the actual products. There's just one way to say it: I am in love with the redesigned Apple.com and its subsequent subpages. Apple sure does know how to show off their products!

It's about time. The photogs on MR have been waiting for this longer than the MBP folks.

But...half of the comments will still be "but where is my MBP?"

but where is my MBP? :D

Lighten up slightly! The updated MBP's will come when they are ready for Apple to release.

Time Machine issues with Aperture had been fixed already in the latest 1.5. Update and 10.5.1

At least thats what Apple said...

I'm quite surprised the minimum specs are the same as they were for version 1. Quite spiffing.

And to all the angrified people about RAW support - it's built in to the OS, not the app, so surely 10.5.2 and Aperture 1.5 will be able to pick up teh new camera support.....

thanks for the enlightening message:rolleyes:

As of right now 9:40 AM EST, the provided serial number on the TRAIL download does not work, and will not allow me past the registration screen.

I have used cut and paste off the provided EMAIL, to eliminate the possiblity of error, and nothing. Just hangs and will not proceed past that screen.

I don't know. Though I know they will soon do it. The current revision is still a great laptop, minus the multitouch. The only issue with multitouch is that it is only in apple apps.

As of 9:43: We know. We all get that. It's the serial for 1.5.6.

While we're waiting for serials here, I'll ask the current Aperture pros:

Even though Time Machine issues have been fixed, is it better to use Aperture + Time Machine, or disable Time Machine for the Aperture Library, and use the Vault feature instead? There seems to be some unnecessary overlap here.

Really? Says:_

Mac computer with a 2GHz or faster Intel Core Duo processor or dual 2GHz or faster PowerPC G5 processors
2GB of RAM
Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later (Tiger) or v10.5.2 or later (Leopard) required
One of the following graphics cards:
ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition, 9800 XT, 9800 Pro, X1900 XT, X1600, HD 2600 XT or HD 2600 PRO
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, 7300 GT, 7800 GT, 8800 GT or 6800 series
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 or FX 5600

Well I've been running 1.5 on my Macbook wih 1.25 gigs, with an Intel integrated graphics chip...

So Aperture will no longer run on my Macbook???

Sheesh, compuguy, you don't get the joke, do you? He just emphasized he meant it the first time as sarcasm, since some other guy said this thread would be littered with comments such as "but where is my MPB?".

As far as I'm concerned Aperture does not work with Time Machine: you cannot enter Time Machine in Aperture and step back through your library looking for images you deleted or previous versions. You might be able to recover the files at a Finder level, but that's not really a good solution...

Has the issue with Time Machine been addressed yet? (i.e. that Aperture creates a single large database file, a separate copy of which gets copied to the TM drive each time you make a change in Aperture).

Yes but not everyone is on 10.5.x. Think about it.

I will buy v.2.0 but not if it can't support my d300.
