And to all the angrified people about RAW support - it's built in to the OS, not the app, so surely 10.5.2 and Aperture 1.5 will be able to pick up teh new camera support.....
Well, apparently the cameras that were added most recently will only work with 10.4.11 or 10.5.2 AND Aperture 2:
Apple said:* Cameras and camera backs followed by an asterisk require Aperture 2 with Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.11 or Mac OS X Leopard v10.5.2 or later.
Pssh, I got the 1.5.6 serial number too. In fact, I've applied for the serial number three times now (twice with one email address, once with another address) and have got the same serial number in each instance! Perhaps theres only one trial serial number? (I'm not going to post the full serial number here though for obvious reasons, but mine ends in NVJ-170-RED-WDH.)
I'm pretty excited about the new Raw decoding. It definitely looks like they've heavily drawn inspiration from ACR/Lightroom. I played with Lightroom last week for fun and like the Raw decoding very much, but still dislike the workflow as much as I did when I tried the original beta.
Also, they've finally brought in lens metadata! And the ability to see whether you're in Onscreen Proofing mode on the main window! And basic DNG support so if you've got some spiffy new camera whose Raw format isn't yet natively supported, you can convert the Raw files to DNG and work on those in Aperture! The application seems like its become competitive again: I'm glad I've stuck with it.
I really should be writing about Euripides and Seneca, but I seem to have been distracted
