It might mean nothing but my order has been updated from "Ships by 14th Nov" to "Ships 14th Nov". I guess tomorrow will show whether this really does mean that the end is near.
Same boat here - ordered 15"/2.33/Matte/160 GB on OCT 25 through the campus store (with an original Nov 3 shipping date), and now have a shipping date of NOV 29. Great job on customer service, Apple! Seeing via this forum that we are getting treated differently than other customers really gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling...
Well I got a ship notification for Monday, Nov. 13. It seems like it didnt make it to the FedEx dropoff point in time, so it left yesterday. Now it's in my city in one day?!?!?! I thought it would be here by Friday, but it is very likely I might get it by this afternoon. WOW

Just got my 17" MacBook Pro. If anyone has any questions, I'm all ears.
THIS COMPUTER IS PIMPED
Just got done taking care of the first part of battery calibration. I've been installing my apps from dvd while I run down the battery. Now, my new baby must sleep for the next 5 hours or so...
My initial reactions:
- Virtually SILENT. Granted I was just installing applications from DVDs and haven't really run any processor intensive apps yet, but the machine was operating below a whisper. The DVD drive made some noise when copying gigabytes of files off of the disc and under the desktop, but that was to be expected.
- Its warmth was tolerable and nothing out of the ordinary or excessive.
- The screen looked quite crisp and clear.
- Since my last laptop experience was a 1st Gen Titanium G4 Powerbook, I was quite impressed with the latching mechanism this time around. It's not magnetic, but it has 2 connection points. The screen and body sit together smoothly when closed.
- The green iSight indicator is quite nice.
- The keyboard is quite responsive and smooth. I'm anxious to see how the backlit keyboard looks. I'll have to wait until tonight.
- I started up Photoshop under Rosetta. No noticeable lags so far. Start up seemed to run as smooth as it did on my 2.55 Dual GHz G5 PPC tower. I'll have to explore this further.
- I'm REALLY happy I went for larger screen real-estate.
- It's FAST!!!
Some surprises:
- This is my first experience with Tiger. I figured out how to turn off Dashboard, but it still sucks that the app icon appears active in the dock.
- This came with a 160 GB hard drive. I was kinda shocked to see that before I loaded anything on the machine it only had 140 GB available. I'm going to have to delete some Apple installed apps. What should I get rid of?
I ordered a 17" 100GB 7200rpm within minutes of it release and hopefully will arrive before Nov 16th, it has really been a long wait for the MBP C2D. Does anybody already receive it in Europe...?
Languages and printer drivers you're not using first of all. This take a huge chunk. Garageband and iWeb are also big culprits.
Not to mention that 160 GB is not correct. Formatted out, it's about 150 GB.![]()
Great news.
This is officially from a business sales manager at CompUSA. They have over 400 17' MBP C2D units at this minute waiting for distribution to their stores and for shipping to those who ordered them via CompUSA
So...
If you ordered one from the Apple Store, it will not be long till it ships.
