Apple Releases Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad

Yay! Let the creativity begin! Who's ready to test it out?
Already done @TheYayAreaLiving ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ I use other photo editing from time to time and when not retired for a few years got cheap Adobe educational programs but not now. Will give this a year at $49 to see if I like and use as much as I did with adobe stuff. Worth a try.

Very cool! But I don't need it for anything. It's nice to have it just in case I need to edit a video or something, though :3

Given the insane flash storage price that Apple charges for iPad, you have to spend a lot of money to have a usable FCP setup on iPad, to the point where itโ€™s better to go with a MacBook Air.
But I bet you $1 that you CAN run the IOS version of FCP on your MacBook Air.

I have found that most iPad apps run very well on my M2-based Mac Mini. This is one of the good things about having the iPhone, iPad, and Mac all running ARM CPUs.

But no way would I want FCP or Logic on a tiny screen. Those two apps need at least a 27" screen and usually two of those. And yes, at least 100 or 200 GB of free storage space.

In a couple days after Apple's servers recover, I'll try FCP on my Mac. I already have FCP on my Mac, but I still want to try.

Subscription, so it's a no from me.
its A lot better than having to sink ยฃ350 on it, especially if you are a student or more amateur user that this is aimed at. FCP doesnโ€™t support external drives for saving projects to so you canโ€™t just pull something from the Mac and work on it on an iPad.

Your ire should really be aimed at Apple for not providing a one-off ยฃ350 purchase option or not supporting cross buy between the Mac and iPad.

Or, you could plug an external SSD into your iPad and use that. You can get an 4 TB Samsung T7 Shield for about $220.

If these apps really are the equivalent of their $200 Mac counterparts then $50/year is fairly reasonable. Perpetual free updates for a 1-off purchase are nice, but honestly unsustainable if developers like to eat hot meals and sleep indoors.
This is not some indie devs were talking about , it's apple, the first company to reach a trillion, the company with some of the highest (if not the highest) margins there can be

They Already make a hell lot of money by selling limited hw and forcing upsell and storage upgrades(especially since FCP on ipadOS doesn't support external drive, so you're forced to get higher storage tier) , it's not like they're sleeping outdoors
