So it appears the AC version jumped from 7.7.3 to 7.7.7. Is this just Apple being weird and trying to 'unify' point releases between all the AirPort devices? (Like making the latest Safari version 9.x.x for 10.9, 10.10, and 10.11.)

I have been doing the same thing since January. Been local-link only and I'm afraid to update lol
Same.

Updated my AC Time Capsule, 2009 AirPort Extreme and 2008 Airport Express without problems.

My time capsule needs to be restarted probably about once a day because it will randomly lose connection to the modem. I hope this fixes that!

Apple today released a new firmware update for all of its 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations, including the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule. According to Apple's release notes, the update includes bug fixes and is designed to improve the stability and performance of the products.Apple has also released a 7.7.7 update for its 802.11ac Wi-Fi Base stations, including the latest AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule models. It fixes the same issues.

The firmware updates can be installed through the AirPort Utility app for iOS or OS X.

Hmm...updated both my airport extreme and express (use the express to extend) and it seems faster...it says it is suppose to fix issues with extended networks and 5Ghz networking. Maybe it did what it said.. Great!

Does this fix (for the AC BaseStations) provide any updates for IPv6 issues with cable providers? the current "fix" is to disable IPv6 and use Link-local which sort of works but I get random speed reductions.
I get home from work in about five hours and I'll try it then if nobody else has. Patience! :)

(Although, to be honest, I'm not expecting it to be fixed...)

Hope this fixes the mystery "the wireless network appears to have been compromised and will be disabled for about a minute" messages I've been getting lately. I'd been on WPA/WPA2 Personal so I changed to pure WPA2 Personal to see if it helps.

You did the right thing. That message means either someone was trying to break TKIP (original WPA) on your network, or one of your devices is buggy and spuriously reporting a TKIP problem. WPA/TKIP was only relevant around 2003 or 2004, and there were vanishingly few devices that supported TKIP but not AES-CCMP (WPA2). So since 2004 or so, its been best to run your wireless networks in pure WPA2 (AES-CCMP) mode.

How long does this take to populate for each device in the iOS Airport Utilty app? I've been checking for about an hour, but it still shows as 7.7.3 is the most up-to-date version.

The iOS AirPort Utility may cache the current updates listing in its sandbox, and only check once a day. Try deleting the app from your device (which deletes it sandbox) and re-downloading it from the app store.

What modem do you use? Is it by any chance a Surfboard SB6141?

I have that modem and have to restart my Time Capsule every day or two because of connection issues. I've read that this is a pretty widespread issue :(

I just updated one 5th Generation Apple Airport Extreme, one Airport Express (the new style), one new AirPort Extreme, and one new Time Capsule with 2T. All the updates installed first try and all the routers seem to be working fine.

I have Cox Communications as an ISP with a SB6141 and would have issues with maintaining an Internet connection as well. I changed my DNS server address to the Google Public DNS and that fixed my intermittent connection issues.

Me too, but Apple insists on making toys not real networking equipment. Well, I guess I should say not real networking equipment for technical people, I guess they work fine for Moms and teenagers who don't need to know when they have problems.

You're right. Apple needs to implement a Dad mode. Who else can figure out esoteric networking problems for the teens and moms?

Hopefully this fixes the wifi dead zone I have in only my room in the house. I even added an airport express to extend the wifi from the AirPort Extreme and it didn't help :(
