Okay, just installed on an iMac 24" ALU with the wired keyboard - no problems are evident, and I wasn't really having any.

I do have two questions, and I have only been on Mac's for about 2 years now. I have never seen this thing about holding in the power button and waiting on a tone to update the EFI. I worked for me, but it's a bit of a strange concept. Has this been done before by Apple, and what would happen if someone did this without an EFI update?

If I am asking in the wrong place I will be more than happy to re-post.

Thanks

Only for Santa Rosa MacBooks......Those with other logic boards will not have anything.

I use an Aluminiun Apple keyboard on a Windows computer on school. I've had the repeated letter a few times. How do I apply the update without OS X?

Borrow a friend's mac? Does it just update os x of the keyboard or does it actually send data to the keyboard and update it... the keyboard is a computer?!?!? Yes I know I sound dumb.

I just installed it and it deleted all of my color profiles. The screen looked like crap. Now I got to find one again.

No it did not. There is the checkbox that shows your custom profiles or not.
Either case, even if it would have deleted those, thats what timemachine is for !

Eh...

Didn't do anything to my Aluminum iMac 2.0GHz at work. Of course, I didn't see any issues before.

I wonder if this helps those with Santa Rosa MBPs that aren't initializing the display on wake or those few iMac - HD 2600 Pro users that are still having lockup problems even though Apple claimed to have fixed all of them.

I'll be running the update on my Aluminum iMac 2.4GHz tonight. I'll keep everyone posted if I see anything different. :)

i will like to refer to this update as a background update, a spring clean if you will, well timed to.

another easy and successful update! :)

I think the OS sends data to a certain chip into the keyboard which controls the keyboard itself. That chip has a firmware that can be updated.

Correct?

Downloaded and updated my 20"iMac seems fine to me but it was fine before

Was i the only one who thought nothing was happening when i held down the power button seemed to take a while before i got the tone.

only issue i've been having recently is that the keyboard occsionally becomes unresponcive and then comes back a few seconds later
this happened on the macbook and was fix by a similar kind of update so i'm hoping that is what this addresses with my alu keyboard connected to my white imac.

really wierd to think that there's firmware inside the keyboard that is being updated though - the thing is too small to have keys, let alone enough tech for upgradable firmware :D

No apparent changes here, but everything was working fine before too. The keyboard firmware update worked fine through software update, but the iMac EFI one wouldn't install through software update. Software update found the firmware update, downloaded it, but didn't actually start the update. I re-ran software update, the firmware update was found and downloaded again, but still didn't work. I had to download it from the Apple website, then I could mount the dmg and do the update.

Doesn't come up for me on my SR MacBook Pro, currently using Boot ROM Version: MBP31.0070.B05

Exactly the same for me. I tried downloading the update directly from Apple's site and it said that it was not needed. Until I saw someone else who had this I thought it was because I just had my logic board replaced about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I tried that and receive the same error message, what is the charge level on your battery?

Downloaded the keyboard update for my mac mini. Although I not found a problem with it before, but i do get a noise of two sound effects every so often which is annoying but oh well <_<.

FINALLY!!!

This latest update RESOLVES THE PROBLEM in Windows under Boot Camp whereby pressing the Caps Lock key would cause the wireless keyboard to crash.

This has taken FAR too long but I'm glad it's done.

I PRESSED CAPS LOCK TO TYPE THIS part of the post :D

eh?

Just come up on my mac mini with apple aluminum keyboard; 601kb.
I can't notice any difference yet, i was hoping it would fix the problem where the caps lock key has to be pressed fairly hard to get it to work.
Oh well!

Not fairly hard, just for slightly longer than a straight keypress. It's by design to stop capslock from being accidentally activated. You have to really mean it. I really like the feature.

Or maybe your keyboard really is pressure sensitive :)

I hope it fixes the issues with superdrives not reading DL DVDs. If anyone has experienced this before the update. Please post if the issue is fixed.

Thanks
