I think the stack lag in leopard (when no power cord is on) as been updated also.

For the ram, it was not showing in your system info right? How you saw it was not properly installed.

Cant get it to work, it says "This computer does not need this update"

I think with the "B07" at the end of your Boot ROM Version suggests that it has already been applied--have you had service on the logic board recently?

Hopefully it fixes the "display never wakes from sleep even though the computer itself does" problem I'm having with my MBP. I've been stuck tethered to my ACD since the last update (either graphics update or firmware, not 100% sure which) broke it.

um sounds like you should have that fixed before your warranty expires. check your brightness settings- you may have set them too low. Or your backlight is not working. either way- get it checked out.

Is it only coming back from sleep or a general failure of the backlight? Maybe being a Windows user biased me, but a good OS reinstallation might help? or a restoration of factory firmware and re-updating?

Nope, no service, all I did was a new Leopard Install like 2 weeks ago. According to the apple website, the Boot ROM version should read "After the firmware is successfully applied to your Mac, your Boot ROM Version will be:

MB31.008E.B02"

Make sure you guys actually RUN the firmware update out of the applications/utilities folder or it'll be about as useful as feeling up your grandmother.

3 weeks old Penryn 15" 2.4GHz MBP: Firmware update didn't show up in software updates so I downloaded it manually. Clicked on the the .pkg and got the "[...] not needed" message.

It would be helpful if Apple was a tad more precise as to which machines need this update and which do not.

Macbook SR 2.2, 4GB, Leopard here, got the update, installed fine. Not sure what it does. It's weird that some people didn't get it.

How can they get any more precise? It didn't show up in software update so your system didn't require it.

The update didn't show up in your Software Update, what more precise do you want?

Update doesn't show = Your machine doesn't need it

:)

Just applied firmware to refurbished 2GHz Santa Rosa MacBook. Everything feels the same, with the exception of slightly faster boot up times and Dashboard loading quicker. Yay.

Showed up on both my BlackBook SR 2.2 and iMac Al 2.4. Installed on the BlackBook no noticeable change. Downloaded on the iMac but i haven't installed it cos i'm working right now and cant afford a restart

EDIT: No KB update showed up on either and i would've loved to have it on the iMac since my keyboard has a knack for screwing with iTunes playback on its own...pausing without my intervention

Downloaded the keyboard update for my mac mini. Although I not found a problem with it before, but i do get a noise of two sound effects every so often which is annoying but oh well <_<.

I'm getting the same thing. It sounds like static and then I hear the high pitched CPU whine like I did on my old Dell XPS M1330. This firmware update made my MacBook sound worse! Anybody else experiencing this?

What was wierd for me was that after reboot, my old wallpaper (last month) replaced my current one!?!

That and "Step 4" never showed up.

Only if you feel absolutely desperate and extremely brave:
-download the updater from apple (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macbookproefifirmwareupdate15.html)
-open disk image, copy the installer somewhere
-right click on the installer, choose "show package contents"
-navigate to Contents/MacbookProFirmwareUpdate.dist
-open with some text editor
-find "function hasValidEFI()" and get rid of the body of the function leaving only "return true"

save, close, startup the updater - voila! it wont tell you that you dont need it.

I updated my firmware last time to EFI 1.3 (MBP31.0070.B05) I wanted to update today... but... at the end I didn't have guts to proceed ...

If you test the workaround I posted there is absolutely no guarantee that it will work and if your MBP explode or die or bite your head off please dont blame me. But please let me know if you tried and it worked.

Any MBP SR 2.2 users, did you happen to catch what your firmware was before your software update successfully got the new one for you?
