Her dissatisfaction comes from the calories. The Polar will say 500 calories burned for example, and the Watch 250. She's competing against people in some fitness app, so less is bad! Haha! I don't think the Polar is inaccurate. Judging by her workout, I think the numbers seems reasonable.

I don't know how the Apple Watch could be defective when paired with a bluetooth chest strap. The same strap on Polar gives her double the amount of calories. I just think Apple is using different algorithms. And even if we do exchange it, God knows when they'll send her another one.

Calculating calorie consumption is a notoriously imprecise science. Measuring heartbeat accurately is one thing, counting steps (or the equivalent depending on exercise) accurately from arm movements is the next thing. Converting that into physical work done is yet another problem and even then, even if the physical work done (eg, in spinning) can be tracked accurately, converting it into used calories is yet another complex enterprise.

I personally find the calories used categories is fitness devices only useful as a relative tool of my own activity.

Stop expecting new features in this x.x.x update. Find my Apple Watch will be in the first major update.

Well mines all updated. The screen is now more eager to light up when you flick your wrist than before, and also does it faster.

Not sure if Trip (Claim) Chowder is right, but my watch just finished updating. All of my 3rd-party glances *definitely* seem to be loading faster... :)

Good to know. Hopefully that's the case across the board.

Can't install it until I get home since I don't have my watch charger at work. I'm definitely looking forward to the improvement for measuring stand activity. That has been a bit hit or miss for mine so far at times.

They've tweaked the Calendar complication so that it takes up less room with on-the-hour events. I.e. it shows "2PM Podcast Record" instead of "2:00PM Pocas." It's the little things.

The UI on the Charging icon has been updated so now there's a green ring to indicate what percent the Watch battery has been charged. Ex. if your watch is 50% charged then the green ring will be around the right half of the charging icon
