glad to see they've prioritized more emoji stuff. after all the operating system itself is running perfectly for everyone and there is nothing to fix. also, I'm not tempted enough to buy the iPhone 8/X so I hope they can add some additional slowdown to my 7.

My iPhone 6 has crawled to a glacial pace since I updated to iOS 11. Even 11.0.1 didn't help. My phone hard crashes 3-5 times a day. I hope 11.1 fixes that.

I’d go back to iOS 10 while you still can.

I’m not saying it’s intentional or planned obsolesence ;) but Apple does tend to neglect older devices.

Was ios11 supposed to offer a performance boost? If not, given how ios8 was the original for Iph6, I hear folks say that you should update no more than one major version of iOS, perhaps 2, in order to prevent... well, such performance hits.
I thought that was the whole point of getting rid of 32bit apps? Shouldn't IOS11 be faster given it doesn't have the 32bit overhead?

Downgrade NOW to 10.3.3. Every iOS is slower than the prior one. Given the 3 year old hardware, is there really anything you care about in 11?

Agree completely. I almost upgraded, but thankfully held off. 10.3.3. isn't exactly speedy, and after reading an Ars review of iOS 11 being slower than 10.3.3 in all applications and usages I knew to avoid it. For me, there is nothing in iOS 11 i care about compared to having a more responsive OS. Heck, if i could downgrade to iOS 9 i would lol

Yeah, iOS has never cared about performance year over year.

Anyone getting a hangup when they click "download and install".

Mine just sits there and does nothing. restarted the phone twice just to be sure.

Hey devs! How's this beta working compared to 11.0?
i truely think this should've been 11.0 b/c it runs great smooth ass hell very responsive and a joy.. i thought my series 3 was gonna suffer but its been quite good as well

The main point is to get rid of legacy components, both software and hardware. A side-effect area performance improvements (for instance, not having to load 32-bit frameworks means more RAM is available for apps).

To be fair, iPhone 6 performed poorly on iOS 8, too. In hindsight, it's the one iPhone generation I would recommend skipping. I'm not sure if it performed decent on any version of iOS.

My 6+ was slow on 11GM. Last night I update to 11.0.1 via itunes and it got faster suddenly. Probably OTA upgrade mixed some unexpected bugs. Will give it a few days to see. But right now I feel it's similar to 10.3.3.

11.0.1 or 11.1?

Updated to 11.1 and it feels faster and battery life seems to be better. Some new things I noticed (or maybe I wasn't aware of before), is that tapping on the status bar to go to the top of the application has more of a rubberband effect (slows before reaching top) in Safari, maybe other apps as well. Also when typing something like 'lol' it gives more than one option for an emoji.

I'm having the same issue. Siri works with CarPlay though and when my iPhone's plugged in through USB, but if it's not plugged in, Siri doesn't work over bluetooth, even though my phone is connected through bluetooth. I tried un-pairing and repairing bluetooth, but it still doesn't work. I hope Apple release a fix for this and I hope it's not going to be on the car manufacturers' end to release an update for this, else that will never happen.
Do you have a 2017 BMW 5 series? I'm pretty sure that is the only car on the market (in the US) that currently supports wireless CarPlay over bluetooth. Alpine makes an aftermarket unit, but that's it for now.

I've downgraded to iOS 10.3. Enjoying again my phone. I don't recommend people with an 6 or older to update to iOS 11. Only cosmetic things and small features at the cost of degraded performance.

I can see how, if you value performance over keeping hackers out and general security fixes, you might do this.

You must not have anything worth hacker pilfering on your phone then.

We are ran PB 11 on a 5S, 2x 6, and a 6S. Glitches during the revision process but generally ok and speedy by GM. Some small improvements still needed but those will come.

To those thinking there is something to be gained by not updating, I ask, why buy the most secure smartphone in the world, and fill it with your important information, if you aren’t going to keep it that way by installing the security updates?

Yes, for a .1 beta it does.
Doesnt matter about a beta 1 or 10. When changing to the initial new version you get the full download image (just like you would in iTunes). Thats why its so big. Beta 2 and on will be the smaller deltas until the full release happens then again the whole image.

I really really hope this beta fixes up what i would say is hundreds of visual and ui glitches. My phone has started to light up with nothing on the screen. when i go to the notifications i see there was a notification there..

I received a text message and it didn't scroll down to it. I only saw it cause i closed out of messages and came back in...

Like this is really really sad. This to be honest is what i expected the iOS beta's to be like.. ton's of little glitches..
