Visually that size increase is hideous, mostly due to the fact that the step increase isn't consistent between bars 3 and 4. Blind designer much?

Initial reports are NO

So what does this do? Is it a placebo update?

looks like signal bars and game centre

If you have proximity sensor issues return your phone for a new one!!!

The only thing that concerns me is whether or not it includes a fix for the proximity sensor (if in fact it is a software issue)

I don't make a single phone call without muting, speaker phoning, face timing the person on the other end.

The proximity sensor problem is bad hardware in some phones, bring it into the Apple Store and they will replace your phone.

This might actually be funny if they'd ever promised a fix for the grip problem.

Thanks. Don't have an iPhone 4 yet (still on 3GS), but will be getting the white one for my wife when it comes out (if the proximity sensor issue is fixed).

The proximity sensor is not a flaw it is bad hardware, people have returned them to the store for a new phone and did not have the problem after that.

There HAS to be more than signal bar size. It wouldn't be 4.1 if that's all it was. So what about the other bugs people reported?
There doesn't have to be. A 4.x version is more for new features (and considering this is a beta), it will only contain back-end and GUI updates. We need to watch out when 4.x.x appears. I can only imagine this update doesnt include any baseband/radio updates.

Please people, don't get excited. We all know there's some serious hardware defect and a software update will not magically make it disappear.

Game Centre

Been looking around and I don't know if it had changed before but the game centre has an entirely new look.

IF this is true, why are people getting multiple phone replacements that all do the same thing?

For some reason my iPhone 4 won't take the update. It fails in both iTunes and XCode (screen shot from XCode).

make sure you 'update' (not 'restore') in iTunes, if that doesn't work put your iPhone in restore mode. But it really isn't worth the effort, trust me.

I am having way worse signal issues with this upgrade. I could only deathgrip to 1 bar previously and now I can easily deathgrip to searching with no signal. Also experiencing way more dropped calls.

My proximity sensor issue seems fixed. It is way more sensitive now. I can make the screen idle during a call with just barely hovering my hand above the sensor.
