The first part of your post is what Apple has specifically said would happen every time Siri tries to tap into ChatGPT. That’s not a bug.
You can turn that off though, but yeah, Apple said this will be default because they have no way of controlling the privacy when going through ChatGPT so you are on your own

It’s not hard for me to make a decision about something I see or read online. If I see a photo that doesn’t look right, then I typically find the source to see if it’s corroborated by other people or other sites. Same as say news articles.

I just find this argument coming right back to protecting people from themselves and not trusting that people can make up their own mind about what they see as being truthful or not, and we have to basically hold their hand and tell them what to believe or how to think about what they come into contact with just because a minority of people might abuse it.

I can tell that Apple doesn’t want to take this approach. I saw the interview with Craig about it. My whole argument wasn’t that they wanted to take this approach, I just said, of my own opinion, that they still should have and let people make their own choice.

Respectively, I will just agree to disagree.

Judging by your comments, you don't appear to understand that you are not representative of most people. We know that most people struggle to identify AI-generated text and images. And literally Apple’s #1 goal is “protect our users from themselves.” This has been abundantly clear for decades. So idk maybe you just shouldn’t use Apple products since you’re obviously opposed to their worldview.

Funny you mention this - I found an "influencer" on Twitter the other day that I'm 99% sure is AI. 18.2K followers convinced they're real. It's unbelievable.

The ChatGPT integration in the writing tools section is very cool. Describe something and let it fill out the rest.

Genmoji is hit and miss. Trying it with a bunch of people in my people album will sometimes create a very emoji-like result, like what was shown in the Keynote, and other times it just completely creates some slop. The robber emoji we've always dreamed of is stuck somewhere in between.

Thanks man, I thought we were having a decent debate until you just automatically started assuming things about me. I couldn’t care less if I was the only person on earth with the ability to make my own decisions about what I see and read and able to find the truth behind it, I would still want other people to have the ability to create the things they want, as realistic as they want, and if they are too dumb to actually think that it is real, then it is on them and I would be looking forward to the lawsuit that comes along with it for defaming someone.

I’m not opposed to what Apple does. I have pretty much every device you can think of besides the AVP and iPad. Apple has never explicitly said they are protecting users from themselves, but I guess with things like sideloading (don’t care about), screen time, or maybe some other stuff that could have the effect of limiting something from the user could be considered that.

Say whatever else you want now. I won’t be responding back to it.

Still isn’t very useful. Hopefully there’s more to this hype later. Still silly gimmicks.

I mean, it is and it isn’t. As you said yourself, you’re 99% sure but not certain. Sometimes it’s really hard! Even for experts! And most people aren’t experts and aren’t paying that much attention, so it’s even harder.

I was looking forward to switching back to Canadian English but it seems chathpt, genmoji, playground, etc… are locked behind US AI only …

Quick feedback of 18.2 Beta 1:

- The ChatGPT integration with Siri asks you to use ChatGPT every time if it needs. So annoying! Why can’t it just go straight to ChatGPT if Siri needs?

- Siri doesn’t read the output from ChatGPT, just displays the text. So annoying!

They NEED to fix these two things before launching 18.2.
You can turn off the prompt, and it will use ChatGPT without asking you every time. Just look at the settings.
