8.1 reduced the amazing battery life of the 6 Plus. I wish 8.1.1 fixes that.

I remeber the first week the plus came out I was getting EPIC battery life, and it was being used like crazy!

Thought it was just me but currenty the battery went from great to very good lol

increased stability and performance improvements for both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4s

This is exactly why Apple need to slow down the iOS release cycle. This should have been done before iOS 8 was released so every device it works on can get the best experience possible. Same happened with iPhone 4 last year, iOS 7.1 made it a lot more bearable, so why was the 7.0 release not like that to start off with.

An iOS 7.3 should have been released to add iPhone 6 support and then iOS 8.0 should have been released when it was ready not this obviously rushed job where even the basics such as WiFi seem to have been screwed up.

Me too........ am not sure what's all the bitching is about. (...) Makes one wonder what the hell people are doing with their iPhones.

Honestly, follow iOS app developers on Twitter if you want to know more about the bugs we are seeing. Or try to find the iOS 8.1.1 beta release notes, which is where Apple itself is listing the things that have been fixed vs iOS 8.1. "Don't use it that way" is not helpful :)

Wow, has their ever been a 0.0.1 beta release before?

I wonder if Apple is finally realizing that testing is a good thing.

after the 8.0.1 disaster they're being EXTRA careful but I'm pretty sure back in 7 there were one or two .x.x.x beta's. not 100 percent sure though :(

Not having software tied to hardware releases would be nice.

The threat of flaws exploited by jailbreaks isn't that somebody might jailbreak your phone. That's a bit like robbers using an unlocked door to enter your house and cook dinner.

Not with this jailbreak. As I said, these exploits involve removing your passcode and activation lock. It then applies a "jail broken backup", much like iTunes itself does, also much like the iOS 5 jailbreak. It's more like unlocking your door, inviting a friend or family member in, and making dinner with them.

Does Messages with Swype still freeze up almost every time you try to open the app? That is slowly driving me insane. (I know, either it's not actually happening or I'm holding the phone wrong, right? )

It looks better to me.

I agree. Looking at the pics, iOS 8 makes more sense.
I could only imagine that they changed it based on customer feedback.
It's only a minor adjustment anyway. I guess if Apple get enough negative feedback then they could change parts of it back or even evolve it to something different.
I guess there will always be people who like things one way and others who will like it another way. I guess it would be good to have a setting with a few layout options that users can choose from. But then that's where the fun in JB'ing is. :)

I am very curious to know how this version goes on iPad 2. I wouldn't mind upgrading ... from iOS 5.x lol

Really? I know you're being sarcastic, but that ship has long sailed. The new design is here to stay.

I like it way better than 7 and the similar style on Yosemite suits it even better. Not sure on the font choice, though - Helvetica Neue seems a bit dull and a swiss/modernist graphic design cliche.

Please don't patch the jailbreak.

Please don't patch the jailbreak.
:(

Unfortunately numerous sources have said it does patch the exploit that allowed for the jailbreak. Sorry. :-(

Spinning Safari icon bug has been fixed
Spotlight search pull down distortion bug has been fixed.

----------

Does this fix the so called lag and stutters in iphone 6 plus?

Let us hope the update process is better this time - the last two iOS updates nearly bricked my 4S. The hassle I had with that makes me wary about upgrading to Yosemite.

When

When is the first update to Yosemite coming out? I'm holding off on upgrading my iMac until then because I don't want any hassles with bugs and Yosemite didn't seem to have any must have feature for me. But Apple does push me to update everyday.

you are holding the 'wrong' phone....:D

I hope they resolve issues of personal hotspot, every time I go out of range of the host device, The connected device loses connectivity and it's impossible to reestablish. I have to disable Internet sharing on the host and restart Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices before I can connect again. This is really annoying when One of the devices is in my glove compartment used for listening to iTunes radio in my car.

Does this by any chance fix the playcount stacking bug? I'm sick of using my ancient iPod touch for music playback.

This is all I care about. I have $2000 in my 6 Plus 128 and my rMini 128 and I'm using a Mini 1 32 gb with a cracked LCD. Not happy at all.

I hope 8.1.1 will fix the jetsam event issue, which then will fix the battery life issue on the 6 Plus.
