The iMac graphics firmware update seems to make things even smoother for me.
I'll bet it helps those freezers.

go buy a vista pc.

why dont you? You would probably do better on that side. He has every right to complain, and apple really should be on top of those problems. Get your head outta your fantasy world and realize apple isn't perfect and vista is the quintessence of a crappy system.

at least the progress bar works wile repairing permissions, but it still takes 10 years to do anything.

the update for me went flawlessly, it didn't restart twice for me like Tiger sometimes does (even the 10.4.11 update didn't reboot 2 times like it normally does). things are a bit more responsive and work more smoothly. still a few things need work, but Apple seems to be going in the correct direction

useful fix

I've noticed Skype now works correctly in Leopard. I had serious problems getting it to launch more than once per install. That seems to have been fixed...somehow. (same Skype as pre 10.5.1)

Anecdotal, but interesting.

does not look like the spotlight issue was addressed at all. it still does not search my library folder unless I tell it to specifically. i was hoping this would be fixed but hopefully it will be in the next update.

Did anyone experience any improvement in the animation? Is it still jerky if it was like that before? It's still the same on my Mac Mini :(

Just loaded it on my MBP.

Repairing permissions still takes ages!

Repairing permissions was the first thing I checked and sadly it's still scr*wed. It hangs on "estimated time: less than 1 minute" fffoorrreeeeevvvveeeeerrrr...

I get a lot of warning messages as well, which I've not seen before, not sure if I should be worried or not.

menubar solution--easy

Maybe I should switch back to using my 12" PowerBook. I can't figure out how to get back the beautiful Tiger Menu bar. Not the menus mind you, just the menu bar. The leopard menus look awesome, except for the menu bar.

the easy but annoying solution to the menubar problem is to add a menubar-sized black (or any other solid color) rectangle to the top of all your desktop images. this is not ideal because it's a time-consuming step to take if you want a new desktop picture, but it works quite nicely.

Now I can only hope a new MacPro will be released next Tuesday. Hopefully Apple was just waiting for the update so the new MacPro can be more stable with Leopard.

I can guarantee you that my quad mac pro with the x1900 is very very very unstable with leopard.that is with the 10.5.1 update, like i said i am defaulting my dual boot to the tiger install

I just went through some things, and haven't noticed any jerkiness on my mini, either before or after the upgrade. I also had no issues in Tiger. It's the 1.83 and I did upgrade to 2GB of memory. I know that doesn't affect the video memory capacity, but it does make it run really nice.

Running great on my 17" PowerBook.

Only ~38MB too...

PS: Stacks animations are much smoother. Especially with the applications stack. Well done.

I get the same error messages when I try to repair permissions - it worked fine for me before..... i'm getting closer to revert to tiger, i don't think Apple knows what they're doing anymore. As a Windows user I was super impressed with Tiger which I used for several weeks before I got my Mac upgrade - now, i'm really disappointed!
