Anyone try this on an early 2015 rMBP?

Realistically, I only check email, browse job postings, and surf the internet, so nothing critical. Not excited about losing iTunes.

I usually never hesitate to run a beta. This time I'm not as confident.

I am. Been fine for me. just surfing and photoshopping.

Sidecar (with the terminal override command) looks terrible though.

Be careful installing this, it's by no means as stable as last years betas, Mojave was a lot more stable.
Think this one is the least stable one since I started using OS X almost 2 decades ago, well, the first beta wasn't that stable.
It's quite a mess, Time Machine/Finder being the worst ones, lots of services crashes too.
I was losing more and more space on beta 1, the more I deleted the less space I got, a terminal showed me I had just 1 Local backup, disk repair showed 12, got me thinking, but someone told me to switch of automatic ™ backup, I instantly got my space back and now could update to beta 2.
Time Machine takes forever to finish backups, last time before I switched it off it took hours to backup 1 GB, and it was hanging at 160 MB.
Thanks.....will not install this. And will only install the combo of 10.14.6. Had my internal 1TB SSD fail requiring a repair (under warranty). Not saying the beta programme caused the failure, but I'm not taking anymore chances.

looks pretty good so far. No real glaring issues, so far, other than a few issues.

1) Webrender from Firefox 67 seems to turn some of the fonts red and garbled.
2) Screen is blank when booting with Sonnet eGPU (either HDMI or Displayport).

I'm dying to try out Sidecar as I have an animation I'm working on right now, and having that functionality would really speed things up for me if it works well. Has anyone actually tried it yet? I'm guessing that it's still too early at this point, but I may tinker with it on a side computer if I can get it to work properly.

My 2013 iMac 27-inch got to the end of the install and could not restart successfully. It would hit an error message, then loop through the last 26 minutes, to only hit the same error. Attaching the error message image taken with my iPhone. I tried re-installing Catalina PB1 with all USB devices disconnected, with no additional success. In the process of restoring from Time Machine via Recovery mode.

Hi,
installed public beta yesterday, at "first look" everything seems to work well but...not that well.
Issues:
  • Emptied /etc/hosts and found no .save/.old/.previous (but restored succesfully with Time Machine)
  • I used an old procedure I found time ago to auto mount shares from NAS at boot (/Scripts/mount.sh script).
/NAS and /Scripts folders moved to /User/Shared/Security (not sure about this folder name). Tried to move them back to / but can't assign any permission than 700.
  • All of the music is in /NAS/Music folder so can't test iMusic right now.
  • An annoying warning for every access to a new folder
  • Some (I think) 32bit only apps stopped working (i.e. MP3 Info)
  • Lost customized icons for drives (local, usb and network ones)
Installed iOS13 on XS Max too, just one thing to report right now: an annoying authorization warning for apps like Youtube, Waze, etc to access Bluetooth.

Anyone having an issue using an eGPU? When booting, while using Sonnet eGPU never gets to a login screen. Mostly, the monitor goes back to sleep or I get a background graphic with no login.

Yep. It’s a bit clunky but nothing serious so far...a lot more fan noise than I’m used to and main niggle so far for me is that a lot of my music cover art pix have gone awol.

It would be handy if MacRumors could have a page on the bugs spotted by its forum users.

Yes it would be.

I found a show-stopping bug for my own use case. I use CISCO's AnyConnect to establish a VPN connection to my employer's network. Since Catalina beta 1 AnyConnect is broken. I know not many users here probably use AnyConnect but, it is what it is.

Next time try to boot into verbose mode, it shows when it hangs, the log would also be helpful but is not that easy to get if you don't know how.
Sometimes a safeboot helps.

Why do you say that? I’ve been using B2 without any issues.

Because it is buggy, I rarely ran into this much trouble over the last 2 decades (Almost) ,started on the very first OS X 10.0b.
The most I got was Wifi issues on Yosemite, wasn't the only one and it took Apple more than half a year to fix this.

Don't install it if you depend on Parallels, it has numerous issues for which no updates have been released as of yet.

Don’t install it on your day-to-day machine. Why would you do that?

Would have been interesting to see the logs...

I rolled back to the first (private) beta via Time Machine after trying the second one a week ago. I find the first one more stable for my use cases: Finder, browsers, IDE, Parallels Desktop. Some utility apps no longer work properly after the upgrade, but I don't depend on them. General UI responsiveness is greatly improved in Catalina, things like resizing windows, scrolling in complex lists, mission control, etc.
