Apple Releases First Public Betas of iOS 13 and iPadOS

I’ve noticed my podcasts episodes/time don’t sync between devices anymore. And if I come back to listen to a podcast an hour later, I’ll notice the position to be incorrect. I’ll have to forward and find where I actually am in the podcast. Yes, I reported it.

Anybody having issues with NordVPN on ios13? I cannot load websites with the VPN on. Was fine in ios12. I have tried entering there DNS address manually but to no avail.

Only issues I’ve had thus far is when I move to app tile mode to close apps sometimes it crashes and restarts on the login screen. Everything else so far seems pretty good for a beat release. haven’t found any issues with all the apps I used etc. I’m running IpadOS 13 on my 11inh IPad Pro

Well this sucks for me.
The apps for my two banks are consistently crashing in ios13 on both my iphone 7 and my ipad air.
Only the ios13 backup done just now when I plugged my phone in is available, not the ios12 backup I did yesterday before the upgrade. It's looking right now that I'm stuck until Apple addresses my issues (which I've detailed to them). My issues don't seem wide spread so I might be waiting a while.

I hope your iPhone 7 is not your daily driver.

I loaded it on my iPad Air 2, but left my XS Max on 12.3.1 as it is my daily driver and I don’t mind testing on the iPad as I don’t really rely on it for anything more than Netflix/YouTube/Amazon in bed.

Lots of minor UX bugs with this public beta. Really appreciating the smoothness and reliability of iOS 12

+2. Imo this isn’t ready for public consumption. Needs maybe 2 more revs before it is. iOS 12pb was in much better shape when it was initially released. IPP 11 LTE.

Too late for this time, but for next time ... always do a backup to your laptop (iTunes or Finder in Catalina) and archive it.

Although you'll lose any non-iCloud changes (and iCloud stuff where you might have clicked "upgrade", such as Reminders), you'll at least be able to do a restore to the latest official iOS release.

Likewise

Downloaded iOS 13 on my 11 inch pro and 12.9 but won’t touch my iPhone for it. Not worth it

I’m going back to 12.3.1, pita of rolling back worth it. FaceID probs on ipp 11 lte are driving me crazy.

What iPad Pro are you using? I’m using the 2018 version. After seeing no problems on mine I also put it on my wife’s. other than Hulu not working on hers, no real issues so far.

Mine is the new iPad Pro , the new beta seems to have stopped the crashes at least

Ive opened 4 cases with Apple thus far on feedback.
iPad 11inch Pro Running the public beat

1) Airdrop issues with pictures to MacBook Pro on latest release I see my MacBook is seen but when I click Airdrop I get the icon but now requests on my MacBook. tested on XS Max running 12.4 no issues same attack
2) sometimes when I try to email a picture from the new photo library the email is never received
3) When I close apps in tile mode sometimes I get booted to the login screen
4) My work VOIP app we developed doesn’t receive inbound Apple PUSH notifications for IM’s or incoming VOIP calls

Outside of these issues everything seems great for a beta load

Soft Bricked my iPad Pro 11.

Safari window with Slack in multi-tasking window locks the swipe up from bottom UI element and locks screen rotation.

Power-button plus volume just brings up Siri. No way to reboot. And now Siri has frozen too.

This is in seriously rough shape for a public beta.

Well, yes, because public beta means “rough shape”. Just because a bunch of lucky posters aren’t having huge issues, doesn’t mean that huge issues don’t exist. Public beta doesn’t mean, “Hey, this is, like, 100% done, we’re just giving you an early look at it!” At best, it means Apple has a full list of internal regression tests that they execute against every release and this release is not yet passing an acceptable number of those tests to release to customers.

However, if there ARE some that want to do some of Apple’s work for them, for free, please download this beta and report your results to Apple.
[doublepost=1561927464][/doublepost]Mine says it wants Bluetooth to provide support for Handoff/Continuity... which makes sense, I guess. They use Bluetooth to confirm that your two devices are actually in proximity.

I’m running the public beta and mostly ok, I did encrypt a backup via iTunes but didn’t archive. Does that mean I can’t go back to 12 now if I wanted to? It’s been backed up to iCloud since.

After upgrading to iOS 13 PB, you are asked if you want to upgrade to the new Reminders. I did not, yet, because what happens to Reminders on Macs that cannot be upgraded? My MBA can be upgraded to Catalina, but my iMac cannot. So what happens in that case? Anyone got a clue?

Thank you for your definition of beta level software testing.

I would hope that their regression test suite would fully exercise things like, you know, the ability to shut down the device.

It either does exercise it and, for right now, fails it OR there’s a test case with Slack that they don’t even know about yet. :) Right now, this beta fails a LOT of tests. I’ve reported a bug where, after a restart, it asks you for a password to validate TouchID but doesn’t provide the on screen keyboard for me to use to ENTER the password! LOL
