While the iPhone Beta2 is workable as a daily driver (with the usual small amount of headache), the iPadOS beta2 is (in my opinion) not ready yet to be a daily driver for anything other than really light work. The crashes, nonfunctioning actions etc are generally preventing me doing any meaningful work on that iPad. This is of course no big deal as they ARE beta versions. I’ve been running iPadOS Beta2 since last week and I keep on having to go back to the laptop to get most relevant things done

When next month? If say mid July you could always just wait for the next public beta if you're worried about the stability and bugginess of this one.
Yes, mid-July. I just wanted to test some adapters to see if I could get a USB-C hub and connect my Apple SD Card Reader (UHS-II speed) and Samsung T5 without issue. I was worried about whether it would supply enough power to run both at once. But I suppose I could leave enough space to dump from source to my iPad and then dump from my iPad to the destination. But the third beta will probably be here with enough time to spare.

Anyone already try this? Suppose I should search around.

This is a beta at the end of the day, no one is forcing anyone to use it.

Apple more than likely did this to kill the black market of selling access to beta's. Anyone dumb enough to expect to use this as a daily driver flawlessly gets what they deserve.

The Public Betas are staggered in such a way that Apple to the best of their ability, know there are no hard breaking bugs based on the developer beta. It is much safer for them to release Beta 2 as Public Beta 1 than a new version.

Not sure I agree with you there - I think there should be a very clear development milestone distinction between a DP and public beta build. That being said, yes, anyone expecting early builds to be good enough to be daily drivers is certainly delusional. However, when they call something a 'public beta', you cannot expect the same level of care or mindfulness, and should expect a higher backlash from the general public if certain things don't just work.

iPad Mini 5 and can't login to Feedback! Very bad sign.

Wanted to inform Apple that Numbers would not open my last most recent spreadsheet.

Two strikes. This isn't going on my iPhone X for now.

I installed it on my 10.5" iPad Pro and I'm loving the experience so far. I probably won't use the widgets on the home page, but having the smaller icons is welcome as is the dark mode (it's beautiful). I'll have to play around with it more, but so far I haven't seen any negatives to upgrading ^_^.

Your lucky as my iPad Pro is rebooting constantly and still artwork is missing in music and tv app
What iPad Pro are you using? I’m using the 2018 version. After seeing no problems on mine I also put it on my wife’s. other than Hulu not working on hers, no real issues so far.

What is the process, eventually, of going from the public beta builds to the final public release (the version that will be released in the fall)? Does it just do the software update from the final GM public beta to the public release in the fall?
Thanks.

No, a Beta tester is a developer. A Public Beta tester is an Apple fan that can't wait.

How many times do I need to educate people on this?!!

Apple will be aware of this trend and it is not going to change as more people want the software early.

I’m going to assume you forgot the sarcasm note.
If people want the software that early, either pay to get a developer account or download the profile from a pirate site.
Either way, be ready for all the bugs, glitches, or bricking that can come with doing that.
Apple doesn’t have the time with all the super-early adopters that mess up their devices and then flood them or the genius bars with problems that could have been avoided if the people could be adults and have a little patience.

Well, they will now get these people at the Genius bar. They decided to release a 'Public Beta'

Then maybe they shouldn’t have shipped this build as a public beta.

Yes, it comes with disclaimers. Yes, you have to opt in. But the entire point is in fact for millions to start installing this build over the next few days. They’re inviting people to do so via e-mail as we speak. They want to collect feedback, gather crash reports and other analytics, and yes, they do want to know how people feel about the quality.

But in all seriousness, I’m actually looking forward to installing it on my iPad Pro 11. I held off on installing the developer beta on it because I didn’t want to pay to register a second UDID.
