If this public beta is the same build as DP2, then god help Apple. No way DP2 is even remotely close to being a daily driver. The ‘thrillseeker’ warning with the DP builds is almost comically misleading too. If they want the ‘public’ to test this, it needs to be a significantly newer (and stable) build vs. the current DP2 - otherwise, people are going to start losing it within minutes of installation when they realize core functionality (calls/reception, scrolling lists, dark mode anomalies, etc) is half baked, stock apps such as Mail are beyond broken, and the overall experience is ways off from what you would expect from a public beta.

Apple says clearly that it is a beta. Doesn't matter if it is public or not, NEVER install as a "daily driver". It is meant for testing ONLY until stable public release in September. It is up to every single person to decide if they want to install it. It is not like Apple is pushing this out to the unknowing public lol

Installed, no issues yet to mention, but one delightful thing I didn't expect because I really don't keep up with the details of map changes. Driving to lunch I decided to put nav to a small test. "Go through the light, and then turn left onto ______ at the next stop sign." Loved it.

Yeah the last thing they want is to be bombarded with support messages from the uninitiated asking why their phone keeps crashing.

iPad Mini 5 and can't login to Feedback! Very bad sign.

Wanted to inform Apple that Numbers would not open my last most recent spreadsheet.

Two strikes. This isn't going on my iPhone X for now.
Probably Public Beta 2 in July for me for my iPad Pro 10.5".

Also, I'll likely wait a lot longer for my main phone, iPhone 7 Plus. Maybe August.

However, I'll install it on my backup iPhone SE today. EDIT: Only took 3 minutes to download.

I installed it on my 10.5" iPad Pro and I'm loving the experience so far. I probably won't use the widgets on the home page, but having the smaller icons is welcome as is the dark mode (it's beautiful). I'll have to play around with it more, but so far I haven't seen any negatives to upgrading ^_^.
Sounds good. It will be all that much better for me come PB2.

I often run late betas (like from August) as daily drivers. Depends on the iOS version though, and the device.

On the flip side, some X.0 releases are pretty bad.

Well, they will now get these people at the Genius bar. They decided to release a 'Public Beta'

Yeah, a beta you have to go out of your way to get to, are warned many times about, and which you really only would know about if you hang out on these sites. Stop exaggerating and making it sound as if Apple is advertising this on TV and setting people up with false promises by not releasing iOS 13.4 GM today.

Installed on my Max

Can no longer swipe up to take you back to the main home screen

Also strange placement of the delete bin icon when viewing an email in mail (it’s way in the right corner)

Other than dark mode- it’s pretty much same as 12

Working well so far on my X. A few niggles here and there, but Dark Mode is amazing (IMO) and I love the swipe keyboard.

Downloaded iPadOS successfully. One minor issue--"widgets" are pink (as are certain background fields) and I can't figure out how to change it. Any ideas? (This is with dark mode and True Tone off).

No, Apple believes it’s stable enough for “beta testers”. They will think it’s stable enough for the general public once they reach Gold Master. The only way to guarantee that what your’e downloading is what Apple considered stable enough for the general public is to NOT install any beta profiles on your phone. That’s the ONLY way.

That’s not all. iOS 12 was a beta until 12.2. That’s the truth. So this beta of a beta they will call GM one day will be pretty broken.

So for those who have updated any device, what was the first thing you did?

For me on iPadOS:
1. Widgets on the home page
2. Turned on auto dark mode
3. Had a look on the “new” safari
4. Split screen 2 of the same apps

1, 2, and 3. Someone joked earlier before they installed it "Safari seems snappier" and it actually was for me LOL

Overall a solid early beta. Main issue for me is I can’t connect to CarPlay. iPhone try’s connecting then crashes out. Ios12 and my CarPlay unit are fine.

Just updated my 6s. Dark Mode is pretty and it all seems to be working. Siri won't take voice commands. But at least Safari is snappier. ;)

is it buggy on ipad pro 11? should i hold? it’s my main device.
Are there showstopper bugs?

Installed iOS 13 on iPhone SE (2 GB RAM and Apple A9 SoC).

Build number is 17A5508m.
Performance is very decent. (This should be true too for the iPhone 6s too, since it's the same RAM and SoC.)
As I expected, I'm not a huge fan of dark mode. It will be fine for night viewing but for daytime usage I still prefer the regular mode. (I usually don't use dark mode on my Mac either.)
I find the SE too small to use as a main iPhone these days. :p
Netflix and Google Maps still work fine for those who care.
New Photos app is really nice.
Samsung T5 SSD loads through fine through a Lightning to USB 3 camera adapter, but I need external power. This is par for the course though, since it seems like most external peripherals on Lightning devices need external power.

Yes, mid-July. I just wanted to test some adapters to see if I could get a USB-C hub and connect my Apple SD Card Reader (UHS-II speed) and Samsung T5 without issue. I was worried about whether it would supply enough power to run both at once. But I suppose I could leave enough space to dump from source to my iPad and then dump from my iPad to the destination. But the third beta will probably be here with enough time to spare.

Anyone already try this? Suppose I should search around.
See above. My Samsung T5 works fine by itself on my iPhone as long as I have external power. I haven't tried a USB hub though.

Your 2018 iPad would have more power, but it would depend on the devices attached if it could all be powered from the port alone. However, I would recommend getting a USB-C hub that supports external power so that way all your bases are covered.

I guess external HD and SSD support did not make it in this beta?

Thumb drives work but no bueno on my SSDs or HDs...

Yea, Not working on the native USB-C on the iPad Pro at the moment... I don’t have a pass through power option at the moment. It does light up the light on an SSD and It spins up an external HD but does not mount it... Sigh. I really wanted this to work. Maybe on beta 3...
