Looking forward to seeing if HomePodOS 17 makes my home behave better. Kinda tired of her snickety responses when I ask her to tun off a light.

I’m going to update the iPad and AW for sure. Phone I’ll have to wait, I just can’t risk it, use this thing for everything from getting on the bus, to unlocking my door, to starting my car, to taking payments from clients.
No, you will not for sure. You're not able to update your Watch to WatchOS 10 without updating your iPhone to iOS 17 before.

So several betas in, does this idiocy still exist?

If you download the public beta, is it easy to update to the official release in September?
The final RC PB seed is usually the same build as the official release, so there is no need to update then. At that point in time you have a choice to leave it set to pubic betas or not. If you leave it on public betas you will then see the iOS/IPadOS 17.1 beta be available to install next.

Installed on phone and iPad easily enough, so far so good. Standby is awesome, safari has the tabs at the bottom which is good. iPad screen customisation I really like. Although the customisation options are limited at the moment.

Only issue I have so far is the activity widget goes back to blank when I lock phone

I just remembered a good reason to wait - last year I lost access to my HSBC UK banking app until about a week before the launch date. Very frustrating. Not sure I have the emotional strength to go through that again.

I could maybe leave my phone on 16 I guess.

This year I am holding off my temptations for beta upgrade because I had problems with a bank, HSBC, which does not support any major beta (point version betas are ok) so anyone needing HSBC hold your horses. I only updated my ipad.

Don't do it unless you are ok with your iPhone having less than 85% of it's original battery capacity. Betas kill battery health.

I can't get the beta to show up on my Software Update... So I went looking for answers... D'oh! Seems my iPad Pro (1st generation) is not supported. 😢

Looks like it's time to buy a new iPad... I guess a 7 year run isn't so bad?

That’s more than not so bad. That’s excellent. Are iPads usually supported that long?

Am I correct that if I update to public beta on my main phone (been running the Developer betas on an older 11), that I will also have to put my Apple Watch on the beta as well to be functional?

Thanks for letting us know!
