Ok so I’m a LONG time Apple user..but lately I feel kinda dumb owning Apple tech..googles pixel phones are beautiful IMO and android has gotten much better. you can see improvements in googles AI and at this point google really just needs to hire really good UI designers...and a Watch but as far as ecosystem I feel like google is a lot closer to it being complete than Apple is. Just left T-Mobile with a pixel 3A..but I haven’t opened it yet wanted some opinion from folks. I just think I’m paying for a name at this point with Apple..I don’t think I do enough on an iPhone to pay 1k
You just came here to write Google Google Google. How relevant is that to this software update? And don’t talk about beautiful and Pixel phones in the same breath. Geez! I’ve been a Pixel user before...and not long ago!

There's something about the lack of horizontal alignment on this iPad layout that really bothers me. Why didn't they just keep the clock in the header and align the top of the icons with the top of the widgets at the left?

This way it looks like windows 10 or Android

Personally, I stopped being overly-impressed with Apple for a while, now. Some things are impressive, for sure, but the amount of weird glitches are equal to Android, IMO. I've known for a while that I'm paying for the ecosystem, not the Brand, and certainly not the quality (save for the XS Max. Pretty good quality phone). Overall, if I pull my head out of my Apple Biass, Apple's quality, or lack thereof, is equal to other brands. However, the integration of their ecosystem across devices is unparalleled.

I have tried to escape many times. But with 6 iphones in household and 4 ipads and a mac-its useless. My wife laughs as I over and over again get an andriod phone and then use it for less than a week before back on old iphone.

Hey everyone! I plan to update my iPad 6th gen (2018) to iPad OS beta but what’s holding me back is that I don’t know if Excel, Slack, Trello and VLC will work properly. Does anyone know if those apps have any issues? Thanks!

I got my iPhone Xr for like $600 and I love it. It's my 4th iPhone since the very first. You can't beat apple when it comes to the ecosystem. Apple makes the hardware and the software so the competition will NEVER catch up for that reason. Plus Google mines your data for information to make money, Apple doesn't.

On top of that, everyone else's mobile chips are at least two years behind Apple.

I've had no issue on my 6th gen with Excel, Trello and Slack (all used for work). VLC is the only one I haven't tried.

Open Link in Background is still somewhat broken and inconsistent in Safari. Plus, they still haven’t added Motion & Orientation Access to Safari settings

Thank you very much for your quick reply suedehed! I’m glad to read those apps, that I also use for work, have no issues. Do you use another app instead of VLC?

Locking delay bug. Takes 1 second to lock iPhone X 256gb sprint model, much like it does when you enable a triple click accessibility shortcut. Of all bugs for me to have.....it had to be this one. HAD to be.

Ugh, I am stuck in "Update Completed" screen. Clicking "Continue" button does nothing. I guess restarting the phone may fix it.

I've held off on putting this on my old iPad Air 2... hope it's stable and robust enough now. Is it worth installing yet, now that it's the 4th public / 5th dev?
I’ve been using the public betas on my iPad Air 2. Some ‘glitchiness‘ here and there, but quite useable. Updating to public beta 4 as I type...

I'm still not seeing Public Beta 4 available OTA yet... I've got an iPhone XS Max

I've been using it on my primary iPad, the 6th Gen, and it works just fine. No lag, no hiccups, no stuttering or anything.

Google Pixels are ugly phones IMO.iPhone is a beautiful design.

It's pretty stable. I'm using it for everything.

However, I recently got an Xr and every time I'm disconnected from a WiFi network, my entire data connection is disabled until I reboot the phone. I wonder if anyone has any feedback on that and what I can do about it. It has to be the phone itself ... it's never happened to me before on any phone I've owned. I know it's not related to the operating system because it was happening before I starting using beta.

One thing I've noticed (and reported) with iPad OS 13 is that the split screen view doesn't work if you put a folder in the dock and try to open the app in the folder. Is anyone else having this issue?

Apple today released the fourth public betas of iOS 13 and iPadOS to its public beta testing group, two weeks after seeding the third public betas and a day after seeding the fifth developer beta.

Beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program will receive the iOS 13 beta update over-the-air after installing the proper certificate on an iOS device.

Those who want to join the beta testing program can sign up on Apple's beta testing website, which gives users access to iOS, macOS, and tvOS betas. Before installing a beta, make sure to create a full encrypted iTunes backup or an iCloud backup. It's best to install iOS 13 on a secondary device because beta software is not always stable and can include bugs.

iOS 13 is a major update to the iOS operating system that runs on the iPhone and the iPad, but this year, iOS 13 and iPadOS, the version of iOS 13 that runs on the iPad, are separate downloads as they've been split up.

iPadOS is identical to iOS 13 in almost every way, though there are some iPad-specific features such as new multitasking capabilities. For the most part, the two operating systems share the same features.

iOS 13 introduces a long list of new features. Dark Mode changes the entire look of the operating system, shifting it from light to dark, while an overhauled Photos app makes it easier to relive your memories with new Days, Months, and Years viewing options.

There's a new photo editing interface that makes it easier to edit photos than ever before, plus there are new tools to work with and options to edit the intensity of the built-in filters. You can edit video right in the Photos app for the first time, and on the newest iPhones, there's a new High-Key Mono lighting effect and an option to adjust the intensity of Portrait Lightning effects.

iOS 13 adds a less obtrusive volume HUD, a new Find My app that combines Find My iPhone and Find My Friends and lets you track your devices even with they don't have an LTE or WiFi connection. A Sign In with Apple feature (not yet active) gives you a convenient and data safe way to sign into apps and websites, providing an alternative to Facebook and Google sign in options.

Maps has a new street-level "Look Around" mode and a Collections feature for making lists of places, Reminders has been entirely overhauled to make it more functional, there's a profile feature in Messages along with new Memoji and Animoji stickers, and Siri has a new voice.

The fifth developer beta, which is identical to the fourth public beta, brought new iPad Home screen options, Share Sheet updates, new Move Goals in the Activity app, updated volume controls, and more. For a full list of changes, make sure to check out our what's new in beta 5 article.

There are a ton of additional new features and changes coming in iOS 13, and for a full rundown of what you can expect, make sure to check out our iOS 13 roundup.

Apple mail seems a bit screwed up with this public beta version. Ghost drafta. Empty messages.

I have the same problem, sometimes long pressing doesn’t open the contextual menu.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to turn off night mode within an individual app? For example, I use The Apple note app to to lecture from. I love night mode but all of my bold text disappears in the stock note app. It would be cool if I could choose to turn off dark mode within the notes app without turning it off from the rest of iOS.
