I will just warn you public beta testers of some issues I read about in the DP5 thread. CarPlay appears to mess up on certain cars, and at random times. FaceTime Audio calls do not work when you initiate them, however, they will come in if you are called by someone using FaceTime Audio. External drive support on iPadOS is not working near as great as it did in DP3 & DP4. I also read about people not getting great LTE signal with Verizon and Sprint (both CDMA carriers) as it will cut out and the only way to get the signal back is to restart, or I guess occasionally putting your phone on Airplane Mode and then off will fix it sometimes. People have reported that battery life is worse with this build. That is all I can think of right now, but I used the MacRumors thread(s) and some threads on Apples website.

This might be one to skip, if you are using this on your daily driver.

Despite what I just typed, I have not experienced any of these issues on DP5, however, I cannot comment on CarPlay as my Alpine deck does not support it.

Just be careful everyone, and REPORT the bugs you come across if you really want this to be a great release!

Ok so I’m a LONG time Apple user..but lately I feel kinda dumb owning Apple tech..googles pixel phones are beautiful IMO and android has gotten much better. you can see improvements in googles AI and at this point google really just needs to hire really good UI designers...and a Watch but as far as ecosystem I feel like google is a lot closer to it being complete than Apple is. Just left T-Mobile with a pixel 3A..but I haven’t opened it yet wanted some opinion from folks. I just think I’m paying for a name at this point with Apple..I don’t think I do enough on an iPhone to pay 1k

Google doesn't do tablets anymore. Google's watches are lackluster as are their TV offerings. How do you define "as far as ecosystem I feel like google is a lot closer to it being complete than Apple is"???

There's something about the lack of horizontal alignment on this iPad layout that really bothers me. Why didn't they just keep the clock in the header and align the top of the icons with the top of the widgets at the left?

I hadn’t noticed that until your post. Now it’s bugging me like a crooked picture. Lol

Apple mail seems a bit screwed up with this public beta version. Ghost drafta. Empty messages.
It immediately crashes when I try to read an email thread, unless I turn off "Complete Threads" in Settings > Mail. All three of my iOS devices. This also happened in PB 3. Now that I figured the workaround, it's not so bad. Reported to Apple with demonstration video.

I bought a car with Carplay on Saturday. Monday I installed PB3 on my phone so I could see the iOS 13 changes to Carplay. Living on the wild side. :)

I'll install this PB4 tonight and see how it goes. So far, I haven't had a single issue.

I've had the public beta on my iPad since the first version.

I'm still not seeing Public Beta 4 available OTA yet... I've got an iPhone XS Max

FYI for anyone else, I had to delete the Public Beta Profile, reboot, and then reinstall the Beta Profile again, reboot again, and the update was there...

Both will meet my needs..at the core most just need a phone to make calls and text..I have TVs so it doesn’t matter how big and beautiful the screen is really. I have consoles..sitting in boxes lol so I don’t need the phone to be a gaming beast either. What I DO want is a phone that’s being branded as “Smart” to do just that. And we all know Siri is a Basic Bitch compared to what the others are doing..and at what cost? I pay for Apple Music but often find Tidal and google play music or YouTube music to be better. I do have iCloud storage but I also have google drive storage so i don’t have any data loss issues...
Great. Enjoy your Android phone/tablet, and maybe start a blog for your dear diary posts.

You didn't even relay the correct or complete info.

As far as CarPlay the two reports in the thread had to do with Maps crashing or not loading, not the entire CarPlay system. It also was not on specific cars.

If you're going to cross post at least do it correctly.

Anyone have issues leaving their iPhone on iOS 12, but updating iPad to 13? Not sure if it causes cloud sync issues or other problems?

No issues for me so far. I’m running 13 on my iPad Pro 10.5 and 12 on my iPhone 8 Plus (iPhone is mission critical whereas iPad is a consumption device). There are bugs in 13, of course, but nothing that has caused any problems cross-device. Touch wood.

Yay! I'm updating my iPad Pro 10.5 (primary iPad) and iPhone SE (backup phone) tonight.

I may also upgrade our two kids iPad Air 2s too, and am considering upgrading my primary phone, an iPhone 7 Plus.

Works fine for me. iPad Pro 10.5" is iPadOS 13 Public Beta, and iPhone 7 Plus is iOS 12.3.1.

My main issue is with third party applications. My iPad's VPN software doesn't work in iOS 13, but that's OK since I use my MacBook with Mojave for that.

Use Betternet. Free VPN and the app works fine on iOS 13.

Which vpn do you use? I have NordVPN, and it was dropping connection or doing nothing so much I just turned it off (and submitted feedback)...

Download Betternet. Free and unlimited and works fine in iOS 13. I have been using it for over a year...can’t believe they still allow it to be free, quite honestly.

Back to 12 for me. It’s solid enough for most people, but notifications still need a little work. It forgets to vibrate quite a bit after a little bit. A reboot fixes it each time. I still don’t get the rational of no more camera roll though. I hate having all of my pics showing up. I made albums for a reason.

There is a camera roll and separate albums. Instead of being called “camera roll” it is just called recents. Nothing has changed.

Personally, I stopped being overly-impressed with Apple for a while, now. Some things are impressive, for sure, but the amount of weird glitches are equal to Android, IMO. I've known for a while that I'm paying for the ecosystem, not the Brand, and certainly not the quality (save for the XS Max. Pretty good quality phone). Overall, if I pull my head out of my Apple Biass, Apple's quality, or lack thereof, is equal to other brands. However, the integration of their ecosystem across devices is unparalleled.
Apples eco system IS the brand.

Yes it has changed. The camera roll pre-iOS 13 only contained pics I took on my phone that weren't in albums. It's only 7 pictures as of this writing for me. In iOS 13 in recents, it contains those 7 pics plus the other 4,266 pics already in other albums. This was a similar issue they had back in a previous release of iOS and they relented and brought the camera roll back.

then bye

Anyone in canada able to get the ECG app working after installing this beta? For me the health app now acknowledges that I can do an ECG, but says I need to install the app on my watch first. My watch does have the ECG app installed. My watch is not on any beta, but does have the latest watch os installed.

I don’t think that is right. There is a Recents album and then there is the separate Photos tab. They don’t contain the same pictures for me?

I feel the exact same way. Tomorrow will be one week with a 3a. I've been swapping my SIM card back and forth between it and my XS, but I find myself spending more time on the 3a. It's fast, the camera is amazing, it does everything I need a phone to do, and I bought it for $200. Trying to decide if I want to put my XS and Apple Watch up for sale and just stick with this.

I thought the betas wouldn’t sync iCloud stuff to iOS 12?

I'm still on iOS 12 and not seeing this behavior. I just took a photo and added it to album. That photo still appears on the Photos tab, and in the 'All Photos' album on the Albums tab. Am I missing something?

As they haven’t said anything - the developer version of Watch OS 6 was released this afternoon although I see no ECG app on the watch :/

to those saying they feel like switching to android, we will see you back around this time next year with the 2020 iPhones and iOS 14 lol
