For the love of ASCII, those emojis look uglier and overdesigned with each new iOS 10 build.

I wouldn't even point it out if it wasn't for Apple making such a huge deal out of their "redesigned emojis" instead of providing actually useful features.

I certainly dislike those pointlessly over-designed emojis, their amateurish gradients and all. I wish Apple would deliver a feature-focused update instead of "polishing" details that are better left alone.
And if you forget the emoji this update has about as much as a typical point update has.

Looks like Apple nixed the SOS feature seen in earlier Beta versions. Also, still seems to be a bug in messages that when you attempt to hit the arrow button to return to the main message screen, some times the action does not respond or lags.

That's the most frustrating part. Other than them it's more like iOS 10.0.4. Apple makes it all about the effing emojis, which don't even look good. They stick out like a sore thumb amidst the now-standard flat design trend Apple itself started with iOS 7.

Yes. You need to do what I mentioned first for the option to show up in Settings.
Nope again. I have never rated a song in iTunes. In 10.2 just turn it on and it appears in the menu. Not entirely sure why you never saw the setting but it appeared as soon as it was added in whichever beta they added it to. I cant remember now but I think maybe beta 3.

So in the new TV app my library is empty (even though my iOS devices are/were full of videos) and when I tap Connect Apps on the Watch Now tab nothing happens. WTF?
Same problem here. Strangely, putting the device into Airplane Mode pops them all back into the library. Leaving Airplane Mode hides them again... Strange

Most updates can be said it's more like this or that, the point is that there were a good number of things added/changed/updated/fixed aside from emojis to warrant a release (and certainly a fair amount more than x.y.z releases, aside from the fact that new things were introduced, which makes it for an x.y release).

Superficialities, at best. Like the "keep settings" for the camera, which was on by default in iOS 9. If Apple's interface designers wish to do something right, they can start eg. by unifying the asinine control center.

Yeah when I tap on Library in the upper left hand corner nothing happens.

Here's an idea Apple: how about leave the music and videos apps the heck alone for people who don't purchase content from iTunes
Hm, strange. FWIW, I have both iTunes-purchases and self-encoded movies on my iPad, and both show under "Downloaded". There must be something else.

I agree though that the TV app is a step backwards when it comes to playing locally stored content.

Yeah, because a quick Google search that'll lead you right to the 3 average wallpapers would really be the hardest thing you've ever done.

I don't even think some people realize just how truly pathetic they make themselves look over the dumbest things. Stupid children. Lol

It appears wifi is the issue. Strange indeed. Thanks for responding, I sent a screen shot to the app support person I was working with.

Well it appears the 'home videos' disappear when wifi is on. Weird. Anyway Apple should have left the music and video apps alone and made the TV and Apple Music apps App Store downloads.

If everything else fails, you could use another app to store and play the movies. For example, the file manager Goodreader can play videos using the iOS AV Foundation player. Or you could use a dedicated video player such as Infuse (which can play back formats that iOS natively can't).

Well now that I know a work around I'm good until Apple fixes it. Interestingly if you start playing a video and then turn on wifi it keeps playing the video but when you end the video and go back to your library it's empty. I sent a sceeen shot to the Apple support tech and he called me right back and asked me if I wanted a job. :D

Ever more stupid and useless. How about getting rid of that awful voice control screen if you press the home button too hard?

To all the "smart people" complaining about the emojis: you do realise that they are part of the new Unicode standard? The newsline should be "Apple implements Unicode 9.0" but of course the news like "Apple makes a pointless update, adding some new emojis" would generate much more traffic.

For more details: http://emojipedia.org/unicode-9.0/

Thanks for pointing out that it's the new Unicode standard as well as the link as it is not mentioned in the MacRumors article/post. For those of us who mostly just follow this site for updates, I wouldn't have known that they implemented the new Unicode standard. I'm all for implementing standards, I couldn't find any of this in the release notes.

Emoji
- Beautifully redesigned emoji that reveal even more detail
- Over 100 new emoji including new faces, food, animals, sports, and professions

Also, in Apple's newsroom there's no mention of the new unicode standard: http://www.apple.com/newsroom/2016/...s-of-new-and-redesigned-emoji-in-ios-102.html

Who cares for software security or performance - new emojis, yippee!

Exactly, F**K EMOJI'S, lets get the hardware working before we release it, and how about the products that haven't been updated in 2-3 years?????. Forget EMOJIs, CARS, SOCIAL INJUSTICE, REMEMBER THE MAC, it got you where you are today, IMBRACE IT, do a IOS/OSX HYBRID and own the genre, think multiple outlets, not just one, grow and prosper, TIM? TIM ARE YOU LISTENING???? TIM?????

Stupid and useless updates that have fixes and changes that plenty of people benefit from? Why don't you disable Siri and/or Voice Control if you don't want it?
