Apple doesn't just make up emojis, they're all a part of Unicode. Thanks for pointing out that it's the new Unicode standard as well as the link as it is not mentioned in the MacRumors article/post. For those of us who mostly just follow this site for updates, I wouldn't have known that they implemented the new Unicode standard. I'm all for implementing standards, I couldn't find any of this in the release notes.
Also, in Apple's newsroom there's no mention of the new unicode standard: http://www.apple.com/newsroom/2016/...s-of-new-and-redesigned-emoji-in-ios-102.html
Most likely when the next macOS 10.2.12 update is released sometime in the near future. When are these emojis coming to MacOS? Messages app on Mac can't use/display these new emoji.
Thanks, I don't use emojis so I wasn't aware of this, never really took the time to research about them at all. I am not sure if you're directing the emoji whining part to me, but I wasn't whining about it. I'm actually glad that Apple implemented a standard and not something that is proprietary to Apple!Apple doesn't just make up emojis, they're all a part of Unicode.
All the emoji whining.... if you don't like them just move on. Why waste your time getting upset about something so small?

They might as well use emoji to express themselves.Likely it's because many people have nothing else going on in their lives, and typing out a tiny moan makes some feel powerful and fulfilled.
When was that an issue that was in search of a fix?Did it fix the issue where iTunes will inform you that there is a new software available software fr your device even though you have already updated to the new software?

If you're talking about the 10.1 problem, yes, because there were actually 2 versions of the 10.1.1 system and that's why you were seeing it ask you to download again. Now that you are on 10.2 it should all be cleared up.Did it fix the issue where iTunes will inform you that there is a new software available software fr your device even though you have already updated to the new software?

iOS 10.1.1? If so, that's because there was another update only released via iTunes as it mainly addressed some things related to installation, that's why iTunes offered it (while it wasn't offered OTA).The last update before taday's. I updated my iPhone 6 and iPad air over the air and when I back either devices iTunes will tell me there is a new update even though both devices have been updated.

Perhaps a thread could be started about that?
I'm not compelled to complain, and to such a degree, about something like that. You should start it, since you feel so compelled to quote my post lol
Disappointing, but appears to be resolved.Doesn't seem like it's really iOS 10.2 specific, but an outage that Apple is experiencing: App Store and iTunes Store Unavailable for Some Users Amid Service Outage

And my reply wasn't exclusively in relation to yours, but to a collection of many other similar ones (although most of those much more on the complaining and somehow truly offended side of things). Your post kind of prompted that particular reply at that time, but it was a collection of all the other ones leading up to it that played a role in it. Although since yours was a question seeking feedback essentially, and considering all the dislike expressed in thread after thread related to emojis, seems like having a separate thread to deal with that might be like a fairly rational and straightforward option.I wasn't complaining, just asking if people disliked emojis as much as I do. It was a question, not a complaint. There actually is a difference.
Yay! New emojis! And that's the reason I'm still using iOS 9... Good job, Apple, good job...
