And now my phone is stuck in recovery mode....When will I learn to not be an early adopter...
You're not an early adopter. This is the same as the Gold Master release that has been out for days, which is an iterative progression of betas that preceded it by months.

EVERY. OS/iOS UPDATE. EVER...

"Bricked!" or some derivative of...

"Screw Apple!"

"Why So Slow?"

"I can't believe they're beta testing on us..."

"That's it, I'm done with Apple forever..."

"Wow! Amazing!"

"Best Update Ever!"

"Super Fast"

You can almost copy and paste from past years updates into the newest release... And I go back on Macrumors to Feb '02

Sigh... LOL

I'm glad I decided to wait a day or two to update. No thanks on an iTunes recovery when I'm at work and computer is home.

I always do a secure backup to my MacBook before making big updates like this- saves me the trouble of re-entering passwords and iCould servers are getting slammed today.

iOS 10 update just bricked my iPad Pro and iPhone 6S Plus. How do people deal with this if they don't have a Mac????

Beware.... I just tried the update and got the connect to iTunes screen as it was completing. Factory resetting my iPhone 6S Plus now!

I have the same problem, but downloaded the new iTunes and got the message that it was downloading iOS 10 (even though I did the OTA)

To all - plug into iTunes, attempt an Update. Worked for me and my 6s+. Have to wait for iTunes to download the iOS 10 update (2.49GB) but once done, it works.

2 year old iPhone 6 - 64 gig - update downloaded. Now installing with black screen and white logo. Fingers crossed.

Don't know if it's just me, but I think changes to Messages is the worst part of iOS10. It used to be clean, smooth, simple and not-busy. Now it's as if 10 year olds have taken it over.
What part are you struggling with? I can still go into iMessages and use it like I did before.

Just notice the original ipad mini is not supported. I have 3 of these for my kids. that sucks. Was planning to get them new full size ipads for Christmas but still.

****ing bricked 6S. Restarted and now it wants me to hook it up to iTunes. I don't use iTunes. I usually don't have a Mac (or even a computer) these days but I just got my wife a Macbook so will have to try that. I'll probably get the prompt that it's synced to another library, etc. Brilliant.

I've just about had it with Tim Cook's Apple. A million SKUs and zero clue. "It just works" is a ****ing joke these days. I owned one of nearly everything they made and never had a single issue until a couple of years ago.

I needed to rant, apologies.

Apple today released iOS 10, the latest operating system designed for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, to the public. iOS 10 can be downloaded on the iPhone 5 and later, the iPad mini and later, the iPad 2 and later, and the 6th generation iPod touch.

The update is available on all eligible devices through iTunes or over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings --> General --> Software update. As with all major software releases, it may take a few minutes for the update to propagate due to high user demand.

According to Apple, iOS 10 is the "biggest release ever" for iOS devices, with major updates for Messages, Siri, Photos, Maps, Apple Music, Apple Pay, and the iOS interface.

iOS 10 features a redesigned Lock screen experience with 3D Touch-enabled notifications, a more easily accessible camera, and a widgets screen. A revamped Control Center also offers 3D Touch support along with new controls for music and HomeKit devices. Raise to Wake, a new feature for the latest devices, wakes up the iPhone without bypassing notifications.

Messages has been entirely overhauled with new features like background animations, bubble effects, rich links, and Digital Touch, and there's even a full Messages App Store that can add almost unlimited capabilities to messages, from sending stickers and GIFs to making payments or placing collaborative dinner orders.

A new Siri SDK lets developers build support into their apps, and a dedicated "Home" app gives users a central place to control HomeKit devices. Photos features impressive facial and object recognition capabilities, and a new Memories feature allows you to discover forgotten memories.

Maps and Apple Music have both been redesigned with cleaner, simpler interfaces, with Maps gaining proactive suggestions and integrated third-party apps and Music gaining better content discovery features and a new focus on lyrics.

There's a new feature that lets stock iOS apps be hidden from sight, and the QuickType keyboard is smarter with new contextual predictions, including emoji predictions. Apple Pay is available on the web starting today, and Game Center has been largely eliminated.

For full details on the new features included in iOS 10, make sure to check out our complete iOS 10 roundup.

Update: Some users are reporting that iOS 10 has bricked their devices, so it may be wise to make a back up before upgrading or hold off on downloading the update for now.

Just downloaded and tried to install over my Wi-Fi. Looks like it crashed on my 12.9 iPad Pro. Now I have to plug into iTunes...

I should have waited like I usually do.

This is ridiculous.

"There is a problem with the iPhone "iPhone" that requires it to be updated or restored."

"The problem may be fixed by updating your iPhone, which preserves your settings and content. However, if updating doesn't work, it may be necessary to click Restore, which erases all settings and content. If you backed up this iPhone to this computer or iCloud, you'll be prompted to restore the backup onto the iphone."

Wow first time this happened to me.

Same here. 1st time

Not sure many of you understand what the term bricked actually means.

Bricked means it isn't going to work again, perhaps if you're fortunate you could JTAG it and fix it .. but this is simply an OS corruption, not a brick.

Granted it wont make any if you happy, but a brick this is not.

Now if I just had a new MacBook Pro....o_O

Let's hope once the iPhone 7 release has been and gone Apple will focus on more important things like new Macs.

The last rumour was Oct/Nov and I really hope that is true. A matt black MBP would look really nice on my desk.

Wow, just bricked my 6s Plus. Plug into iTunes it shows, but that computer is at home.

Should have checked this thread first.

Just tried to run the update on my iPad Pro 9.7" and it bricked it. I've got the screen showing to hook it up to iTunes. I'm trying that now, but iTunes says it has to update to iOS 9.3.5. Hopefully I'll be able to get iOS 10 working on it soon. I've never had this problem before with an iOS update, though I've read of others having this problem. It makes me nervous to update my iPhone now.

Anyone else have this problem?

Ok, restoring to 9.3.5 via iTunes brought my iPad back to life. I am now going to try to update to 10.0 via iTunes, but I am having to update iTunes first. I'll update after I give this a try and let you all know if this works.
