There is a new iTunes version in the App Store (12.5.1). Don't know if we're supposed to download it or not. Either way, since I'm restoring my Phone via iTunes, I can't update iTunes, and I sure as hell won't abort the restoration attempt.

Bricked! Downloaded pretty quick (10min or so) installed white Apple logo and then the cable iTunes symbol.

iPhone 6s + with 9.3.5 before the BRICK. iTunes is downloading 9.3.5 at a snails pace.

Thanks Apple!

Failed even at restore....

Iphone 6s+ bricked as well after the OTA update.
Ok, maybe not bricked...but brick-like.

Proceeding with the iTunes recovery mode.
(hope this works, or I'll be REALLY pissed).

Hopefully my iPad Air2 will fair better...

Cheers all.

When I connect my iPad to my iMac, it says I can restore or update - maybe not all data is lost if the update succeed. I know I can restore via iCloud but didn't do a backup before... I'll see, not the end of the world, I don't mind a clean install...

iPhone_4.7_10.0.1_14A403_Restore.ipsw i get with itunes in less than 25 minutes :)

iPad pro 9.7 originally had the brick, went to iTunes to restore back to 9.3.5, tried another OTA and it appears to have gone through. I am going to go out on a limb and say they pulled the original and replaced it on the CDN's and we got a corrupt copy of the OS payload. I am now at 10.0.1.

I used OTA on my 6s and it failed--had to connect to iTunes to install 9.3.5 again. Now installing 10 via iTunes.

Thank god I didn't try this at the office where I don't have a Mac.. phone would have been dead rest of the day.

Yeah, lot of misconception of what "bricked" actually is here... I remember the days when a device could truly be "bricked" and the solution was to get a new phone.

That said, every year when the updates come down, there always has been and always will be issues the first day or two due to sheer server load. I'd say it's very likely that the update files have become corrupted.

My Iphone 6S plus is in recovery mode, why is this? It was suppose to be a smooth upgrade.

Both my iPad Pro 9.7 and 6S got stuck in recovery mode after OTA updates. Trying a restore from iTunes now. Wonder how those who took the post-PC era advice will do without a proper iTunes backup???????

samething happened to me is there a fixs

Even though it errored - it was actually downloading the update. So I went to the downloads area and it showed it downloading. Once that is done, then try the update on the iPhone. That worked for me.
