This was probably the fastest download and restore I've done for a iOS release. Started the download and restore just moments ago and it's already finished. Hats off!

EVERY. OS/iOS UPDATE. EVER...

"Bricked!" or some derivative of...

"Screw Apple!"

"Why So Slow?"

"I can't believe they're beta testing on us..."

"That's it, I'm done with Apple forever..."

"Wow! Amazing!"

"Best Update Ever!"

"Super Fast"

You can almost copy and paste from past years updates into the newest release... And I go back on Macrumors to Feb '02

Sigh... LOL

Coaching guy

I've been using apple devices since iPhone 3G and this has never happened to me. This is the first time an iOS update has bricked my devices. People have a right to complain about a sloppy update.

OTA Bricked my iPad pro 9.7 AND my 6s. Updated iTunes to 12.5.1, now is downloading 10.0.1. Trying to update iPad first.

UPDATE: Updating through iTunes got my 9.7 pro working again and updated to 10.0.1. Now trying same with iPhone.

UPDATE2: same worked for 6s

How is it on an iPhone 5? A year ago, when I updated to iOS9, I remember the phone working rather slowly until the first update came....

I know the OTA option is available, but why would you try it knowing the risk and knowing that a better option is available? Also, I sure hope all of you are backing up your devices before trying to install..

Step 1: Plug in device
Step 2: Back up to iTunes
Step 3: While still connected to iTunes, check for updates
Step 4: Install

OTA update bricked my 6s, iTunes update worked, it's 10.0.1 and build 14A403. OTA update of iPad Air worked flawlessly, 10.0.1 as well.

Hi :) could anyone please lead me to a way to switch from ios 10 beta to ios 10 official? All I found are ways to go from ios 10 to 9.3.5.. Thanks :)

WTF? OTA update to my iPhone SE forces me to restore via iTunes and iTunes wants to reinstall iOS 9.3.5

screen went black and buttons unresponsive
If the phone cuts off for 2-3 minutes. It's not bricked. Don't hard reset. It's part of the update process

this. screen went black for a few minutes then went through another slow loading/installing bar and finally installed successfully. don't jump the gun folks

I was going to pick up an iPhone 7 plus on launch date. But after this sloppy iOS 10 update I'm going own hold off buying one for another month until they have worked out all the bugs in that as well.

Apple is getting careless.

Not sure many of you understand what the term bricked actually means.

Bricked means it isn't going to work again, perhaps if you're fortunate you could JTAG it and fix it .. but this is simply an OS corruption, not a brick.

Granted it wont make any if you happy, but a brick this is not.

If you're away from access to your computer it's a brick. Might be temporary but still a brick. Not good for this to ever happen on a communication device that people rely on so heavily.
