NOTES
What's happening?
The OTA update version might be corrupted. The update will download completely, verify prior to install, go into the Apple update screen, then crash into the "Plug into iTunes" screen. The update bar went as far as about 75% - 80%.
Who is affected?
So far, only iPad Pros, iPhone 6S / S+ and iPhone SEs have complained of corrupt installs. All of those who have complained used OTA updates, so it may affect more.
What do I do?
1.) DO NOT USE OTA UPDATES - it's the most common culprit in the bunch. Avoid it like the plague.
2.) IF YOU ARE UPDATING, USE USB + iTUNES. Those who have been successful have used the iTunes download. Slower, but working.
3.) IF YOU ARE BRICKED - Plug into iTunes and use "Update" to clear out your problem. You don't need to do a full restore, thankfully. I've done a simple update and everything worked swimmingly.
Should be common knowledge to all Apple i users anyhow.![]()
Incorrect. The pause that is part of the update is not what we are seeing. We are seeing an indicator to plug our phones/pads into computer to restore, and iTunes reports they are in recovery mode.If the phone cuts off for 2-3 minutes. It's not bricked. Don't hard reset. It's part of the update process
Thanks. That has eased my worries, though I have a 78 minute wait.Even though it errored - it was actually downloading the update. So I went to the downloads area and it showed it downloading. Once that is done, then try the update on the iPhone. That worked for me.
I was supposed to be leaving work in 15 minutes, but I guess not, because I am now stuck restoring **** via iTunes and then have to wait for restoring from iCloud backup. Thanks Apple!
Last time I am ever updating anything on launch day.
You know, telling people that while their phones are inoperable isn't going to win you friends or impress peers. In fact, it might be detrimental to your health.
Just saying...
It seems i didi the smart thing updating days earlier.
thank you for sharingNOTES

Bricked! Downloaded pretty quick (10min or so) installed white Apple logo and then the cable iTunes symbol.
iPhone 6s + with 9.3.5 before the BRICK. iTunes is downloading 9.3.5 at a snails pace.
Thanks Apple!
I've been using apple devices since iPhone 3G and this has never happened to me. This is the first time an iOS update has bricked my devices. People have a right to complain about a sloppy update.
