Why do people keep bringing up how many MB an update is? You do realize that a 100MB update does not mean that 104857600 characters in the source code were altered, right? If even one character of code is changed in a file that is 100MB when compiled, the entire 100MB file needs to be updated. In other words, very minor changes can result in very big downloads; and vice versa. You get this right?

For example, if I change one letter in a 5MB Word Document, you still need to download the entire document to get that one change.

You are correct in general, but not correct when referring to iOS. A few years ago, Apple made the change how iOS updates to only update the NEW content/code, rather than downloading the whole iOS again each time. Check this article out: https://developer.apple.com/library/content/qa/qa1779/_index.html. It's referring to Apps, but they implemented into their own iOS updates too.

I updated and now my third party cable that allowed me to charge the phone and listen with headphones at the same time doesn't work... this is continued deliberate attacks from Apple to make them not work
No, actually, they're just specifically targeting you, Teammm, that cable still works for everyone else.

I mean, if you're going to jump straight to paranoid conspiracy theories, at least jump all the way in. Probably best if you put on a tin-foil hat and hide under the bed.

No one would expect battery problems on a brand new 8 Plus anyway, since iOS 11 is optimized for the 8 and the X.

It's about "older" devices like the 7 or 6s that have been hit hard.
Keep in mind also that a new major OS release is going to spend a looong time re-indexing files, photos, apps, etc., which always skews initial battery life when installing on a non-empty phone. Check battery life again in a week.

No, because it’s not. Unless you want to claim it’s possible for a company to release something as complex as an OS with zero bugs.

Bugs and not paying attention to things are two very different things.

Does anyone have an issue with Rest Finger to Open for Touch ID? When enabled, it doesn't work every time for me on my iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 11.0.3.
Yes it doesn’t work all the time with my SE. It always worked on iOS 10 for me.

Has anyone with a 6s seen an improvement with 11.0.3? I'm still on 10.3.3 and my plan right now is to wait until 11.1 or 11.1.1, hoping my 6s will be as responsive as it is now.

and that is why I did not update anything. Anything else is broken or should I wait couple of days for 11.0.4?

Be careful. Made update from 11.0.2 to 11.0.3. And my iPad Pro 10.5 died. Did even not possible to recovery from DFU.

Looking forward to them to continue to update,, has seemed buggy has heck on my 6S+ ... think it's kinda funny they call out unresponsiveness on 6S as due to non genuine parts... mine has never been touched and was bought new and has those issues :)

Yea I have a 6S and had the issue where the touch screen becomes unresponsive.

I like the weekly updates but Apple forgets consumers aren’t Apple employees where they compile and recompile everyday running multiple OS versions. Kind of a catch 22. Updates are easy and simple. Releasing them so frequently seems like there’s QC issues.

Did you miss where I said Air 2?

Eh, at this point I would reboot iOS, it's such a mess. I would personally make it look like MacOS on phones so there's a cohesive look (Google did that with their Material design). Just take the apps from the desktop, apply the same style (cuz it's pretty great right now in my opinion) and optimize the ***** out of them so they're fun and convenient to use with touch controls. After that, polish it till it shines even if it takes longer to release it.

Something like this. A very similar layout to the desktop iTunes, optimized for mobile.
Then I'd put booby traps in my office in case Jony Ive ever comes near it.

What drives me nuts about it is the bad transition from huge left justified text to instant small center justified text. Thats just sloppy. If we must live with crazy huge text, it should transition like safari’s url box, smooth transition from big text to little.

iOS7 was minimalistic, some say ugly, but it was consistent. With iOS 10-11 everything turned into a UI/UX mess. It's so sad... :(

The iOS 11 release is a new low in term of aesthetics. Ugly massive rounded corners. The control center is a joke, with controls which look like tampons. Inconsistency with color palettes, white/dark themes mess, Bold headlines, crap transitions... I'm terrified with the direction Apple is heading to... It's getting worse with every new release.

Dear Apple, make iOS beautiful again!

Apologies if this has already been said.
I would like an update that makes the Bluetooth and WiFi toggles work like they did in iOS 10. By that I mean, completely turn off and not "run" in the background.
If Apple wants to continue babying its Luddite users that's fine but at least allow those of us who are, shall I say more tech-savvy, the option of setting this as a default in Settings.

How about you just do that in setting and let the rest of us enjoy the new and very useful feature of just letting those buttons disconnect. Normal people don’t need to turn the radios off and on several times a day, and neither do “tech-savvy” people. A few people might, and they can use settings, it’s not like it’s a big problem.

Apple cares more about TC's social activism and emojis.

Oh Jeez, thanks for the warning. I’m in the middle of an art project on mine and don’t need that happening to me. Sorry, man...good luck to you.

Wipe and do a clean install and you will be fine.

Honestly I had some battery issues with my 6s plus after the update. After the second update my battery life seems to be better. But there is something running in the background that’s kind of taking some juice from my battery. I’ll get up first thing in the morning get my phone of the charger and not use it until I get to work to send my wife a text. After that one use, my phone will be in my pocket for three hours and my battery goes 100 to 96%. Something is just running in the background.

Is this a security hole that's unique on 11.0.3 or have existed all the way back?

Just installed 11.0.3 whilst in the car (after wifi download at home). My iPhone7 booted up and connected normally via CarPlay with graphics on the car unit screen. Then I was able to access CarPlay functionalities, including phone calls, all without entering the login security code on the iPhone.

This can't be right!
