I saw a performance hit based on Geekbench 4 on my iPad Air 2. It was weird that the multi core dropped so significantly; like it is only using 2 of the 3 cores. I have not installed on my iPhone 8 plus to see the impact.

Before the update my Geekbench scores were:
Single Core -1824
Multi Core - 4397

After update (ran twice):
Single Core - 1734 - 1762
Multi Core - 2944 - 2965

This is not good at all I'll say pass...
Might not get the best results running something like this shortly after an update. I'd probably try it in a few days to see what it's like then.

That is insane! Apple is corrupt.

Airplay 2 has been working with the betas. It worked on the 2 Apple TVs I have also running the beta.
interesting..gonna install tonite and i guess i'll see if it works on my ATV 4 at home

Hmm that I have not tried to use yet. I will when I get home and see.
How do you know you have AirPlay 2 and not standard AirPlay? From my understanding, Airplay 2 buffers for much longer so if you're Airplaying music to a apple tv or other device and you get a call or text the music wont' be interuppted..is that what you're experiencing?

Yikes that's no good. Definitely run it again later after the device has "settled" a bit after restart. I'm curious what my numbers will be on the X as it is still on iOS 11.2.1 and last scored 4238/10353. Doing the OTA update shortly... and thinking I may regret it...

Aussie downloading iOS 11.2.5. Australia is still a premium country in Apple list apparently.

I've only been in the Echosystem since 9/14 and I don't remember them skipping numbered releases like that. Hey, they're only numbers... and there's plenty of those to go around, right?
Exactly what I am wondering now. Don’t know, have no idea why people are so skeptical to a random number. Apple can release iOS 11.7 if they want, skipping all numbers from iOS 11.3 to iOS 11.6.

There's a chance that the out-of-order messages bug is related to tests of iCloud Messages. It could be that they're testing iCloud Messages for a subset of users. For these users, they could be pushing messages to the cloud for each individual device, and then reading them back from the cloud (but still not syncing the messages across devices). If there was a bug in that logic, we would expect it to affect both iOS and macOS.

The bug only affected some users on some devices. For me, it affected my iPad, but not either of my macs nor my iPhone. A friend of mine had it on his iPhone, but no other device. Another friend only had it on his Mac. So it could be that one of each of our devices was in the test group.

With their continued work on iCloud Messages, this seems like a reasonable explanation for the bug, although it could be entirely unrelated :)
Plausible explanation. Happens on both my iPad and ipX. No biggie. Just a nuisance but. I lived with it. Glad it's fixed.

No such problem on iPhone 8, in fact the opposite - a small jump. Both tests run after quitting all running apps (obv except for Geekbench 4) and clearing the memory.

Before the update:
Single Core - 4216
Multi Core - 10139

After update:
Single Core - 4244
Multi Core - 10338

Numbers have a significance, a meaning, number are not just numbers, it seems that they are imbedded in the universe, maybe they could be the universe itself, who knows, but they are not just numbers and Johny Ive knows that.

10 updates in 5 months. Apple, this is getting a little much. Quit rushing new software releases just to meet a schedule.

No issues here on a mini 2 which is my oldest device. The mini 2 held up surprisingly well with iOS 11 in general. I won’t hesitate now to update my other newer devices.

Agreed. Odd and off-putting. What's important is that they have fixed some issues, sure, but it's nonsensical to skip from a .x.2 version to a .x.5 version. I wonder why, hmmm.
The theory was, back when 11.2.5 beta 1 came out, that 11.2.3 and .4 were reserved for potential security updates that may be needed before 11.2.5 was baked. 11.2.5 had 7 betas so that left some availability for a quick update or two (like 11.2.2) while it was being finalized. Guess turned out they didn't need it.

Apple has also promised that new, more extensive details about battery life will be coming in early 2018, but those new tools are also missing from iOS 11.2.5, so we may instead see them in the next iOS update.

so you have to buy next years I phone to get these total B.S. Apple

Tim Cooks quote: Wed January 17th
"We're also going to... first in a developer release that happens next month, we're going to give people the visibility of the health of their battery."

So pretty clear it wasn't going to be this one since it was also stated that an update was coming this week for the iMessage bug and other issues. So perhaps in a week or two we will see those tools.

My iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly slow for a year or so.

I ran Geekbench yesterday and got:

Single: 1409
Multi: 2446

With this update I have (ran it twice):

Single: 2178/2152
Multi: 3875/3817

It's works so much better.

Bet it doesn’t fix the shocking performance and battery life in iOS 11.

Interesting to see these posts in that order.
