I thought I downloaded beta 6 an hour ago, but it says im on 11.2.

Or im not seeing 11.2 yet
You already have it essentially as it seems to be the same build as beta 6 (which was seen as likely to be the public release version).

So they rush this because of a newly discovered high impact bug. Why not release a separate bug fix instead? 11.2.1 will be what 11.2 would've been if they fully completed the beta-testing cycle. Really strange to release a big iOS update around midnight local time. Now they need to have engineers on site in midnight weekends to see if there are any major problems that need an immediate response.

Well, it seems that the 11.2 beta they released today was meant to be the public release anyway. Typically they would give it more time to soak and probably release it publicly within a week or so of that last beta. In this case it sounds like today's issue got them to do it earlier, but still with a version that seemingly was the same one they were going to release anyway.

Given the issues that popped up today it seems like they would have had people working on it all anyway, so getting a version out that already has a fix in it is probably (and hopefully) the best course of action at this point.

wow what a bug manifested ios we've been living with on ios 11 I mean look at all those bug fixes release and some critics would tell me ios 11 isn't crap, it's only just getting better ... i'd say the original release of ios 11 and ios 11.1 are just beta ; why release an ios when it's not ready yet why release a bug filled ios and cripple our devices ' it doesn't make sense

Hmmm.... I wonder when Apple know about this bug then? If they knew about it early enough to bake it into Beta 5/6. Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to either

A. Release 11.1.3 as a patch for this bug
B. Release Beta 6 as 11.2 earlier in the day than when almost the entire world have passed 12:15 anyways?

I can confirm Beta 6, more specifically the public beta, is the same as the release version build wise. As far as stability, 11.2 addresses a lot of bug and lag that I was experiencing and overall increases reliability over previous iOS 11 versions. If you are running iOS 11 already, I’d update right away. If you’re still on iOS 10, give it a couple days before jumping. Seems very stable though!
