I don't understand, from a technical standpoint, why Messages sync is apparently such a hard problem for them to solve. I know I'm probably just not understanding the problem properly, but it sure doesn't seem like it should take this much time to sort out.

I've been thinking the same thing. It it not just essentially IMAP but for messages instead of email?

They were obviously fairly confident it would ship nearly a year ago, so interesting to think what the hold up could be.

Came to see if anyone got bricked yet before updating mine...? :)

If that's the case, then 11.3 is going to be a PR disaster for Apple, because even as of Beta 6, there's a ton of graphical glitches, resprings, and the weather widget still doesn't work.

I haven't experienced any of the above with beta 6. My weather widget is working fine, too.

Apple is getting really good at over promising and under delivering. One can only hope that they are trying to ensure a flawless (relatively speaking) roll out of Messages in the cloud. The fact they can build a terrestrial star ship of an HQ but not deliver on this feature is telling.

Thankfully, they made up for the iCloud Messages omission by giving us new Animoji.

Disappointed about messages in the cloud. Must be something big happening that they can't work out. Its not easy to roll that out to the goodness knows how many devices using it.

Wow! How soon everyone forgets. Doesn't anyone remember the bricking of iPhones from a point update in the past? I guess not. Download & install.
(It's always prudent to wait a few days at the minimum before installing any iOS update).

I get everyone is upset about not having iMessage in the cloud, but what if the reason for the delay is better protecting privacy and security? I really don't mind Apple taking their time to get this right.

Apple's mistake was announcing a feature that wasn't ready-enough to be announced. Apple's mistake is not that it isn't released yet.

The worst part of having every device Apple sells... so many things to update. At least with High Sierra not being released yet, I have a small reprieve.

Edit: clearly I spoke too soon.

"How's the battery life"? There, I'm sure I saved someone some trouble!;)

Between my MBPro,iMac,iPad,iPhone, and Watch, I swear I have 5 different message threads...so annoying, and beyond disappointing that this was dropped after being promoted in the betas. Grrrrrr

Weird... on my X, when I first went into the battery setting the page was blank. I went in and out of it several times without success. I rebooted the phone and now the settings are there. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
