THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I understand you installed with 12.6 but are you now still able to sync with 12.6 (besides the problem with Photos)? I'm asking because a couple of posts bellow your answer the user GUY CLARK says iTunes 12.7 is needed.

He could be right. I got 370 pictures to sync, but it took three tries. 339 the first time, then a few more and then the rest. It went through backup, checking for changes, etc., but... It seems to work, but maybe not. There weren't any error messages, but the first two tries the iPad thought it was still sync'ing, but iTunes looked like it had finished. About the only thing I use the sync for is for changing pictures, so I'll have to think about this.

iPhone SE seems a touch—yet tangibly—smoother under iOS 11.

The iPad Pro 10.5 does indeed seem like a different tablet :D

The new swipe-up screen and Control Center alone is worth it. Oh, also, smoother on the iPad, too. :)

What's this about no iMessages? I haven't installed the update yet, but I don't like the sound of that at all

Now I just did a couple big movies and 500 songs. It seems to be OK. When I did the photos it kinda zipped through the countdown "copying" them, but then it went to "waiting for items to copy". With the movies and songs it looks like the '1 of 500', '2 of 500' countdown is actually true and going the right speed. Maybe it was just the first sync after the update.

I just want to know if you can re-order your app pages, like move the whole page, without the new press on one app then drag each of them to that app and drag to a new page. I just want page 3 to page 5 etc, I missed it right before iTunes 12.7 :( upgraded...

An annoying thing about this update is that the videos app gets replaced by the tv app - but the tv app only shows purchased videos, not all videos.

So if you have other videos which were not purchased you have to redownload the videos app again from the app store. Thankfully, all videos show up again in the videos app.

If apple want to really replace the videos app with the tv app they need to allow ALL videos to appear in that app, not just purchased ones.

What exactly is the point of doing it the way they did? Everyone is going to redownload the videos app and never look at the tv app again.

I’m tempted to even delete the tv app!

EDIT: Some of this post is incorrect (thanks to NMBob for correcting me below). You can actually show other videos via the Library V in the tv app. Hate that though. It is still better set out in the videos app!

I have another complaint too about ios11.

In safari I use open in new tab quite a lot on the ipad pro.

But it is MUCH slower in ios 11 than in ios 10!

They might be making safari snappier, but they need to make open in new tab snappier.

Updating my 5s now, which maybe on its last leg, but heck it still functions quick well, and it works for my needs (make calls, take calls, which are rare these days, send and receive messages, and occasional photos)

I am the only one who prefer's 4" screens over the "bigger" iphones?
You're not alone. I much prefer the 4" screen. I visited this thread to find out what others are saying about iOS 11 on the 5s. Seems like it will be safe to upgrade.

TV is simply annoying. Notice you can poke the Library tab (at the bottom) and then it will ALWAYS show you everything you've ever bought, but then you can poke the "Library V" thing at the top and select from the menu to just see the items that are Downloaded or Home Videos.

But it still always wants to download all of the info for your purchased stuff, so you have to sit there and wait, and then tell it to just show the stuff on your pad/phone. If you are not connected to the net then it gets the hint and only shows stuff on your iPad.

With the new swipe down, I cannot clear all of today's or most recent notifications. But older ones have a "clear all"

Rolling back to 10.3.3 on iPhone 6s. (First time ever doing this crazy stuff)..
Reasons:
1. 3D touch multi tasking is gone.
2. Control center looks awfully bad when in use.
3. The multitasking doesn't have home screen forcing you to use home button...

However on iPad, it is a great change and welcome (iPad Mini 2).

Thanks for that. I stand corrected. Didn’t know about the Library V thing. It certainly is nowhere as obvious as in the videos app.

I think I’ll still stick with the videos app.

Can’t say I’m particularly impressed with the Siri translation.

Tried it ‘sorry can’t translate from Canadian English into French just yet’.

By French, I’m assuming French French. Not Quebec French.

Lame.

I did a clean install through iTunes and a restore from an iCloud backup immediately afterwards. Everything has worked perfectly ever since.
Just to be clear, your phone was on 10.3.3. You backed up to iCloud, then reset the phone, did a clean install of 11, then immediately restored from your iCloud backup to migrate your apps and settings?

If so, I assume I can perform a similar procedure using a local backup through iTunes 12.6?

Got to admit i’m Loving IOS 11 on my iPad..just what was needed and i like the widgets page looks better now.

"I can't translate from British English yet. Sorry about that."

:-(

I changed my language to American English (with a great deal of pain- it has to be said!) but kept Siri’s voice British. This way- language translate works until they change it officially.

Lame.

I live in France and I’m British. I can’t tell you what you want to know specifically, but if it helps: I can change my language to US English, but keep the voice British. This now translates French as intended. France French though.
