I'm updating my 8 via itunes and it's been stuck on waiting for iphone for a LONG time. like long enough to get worried.

For what it’s worth, it downloaded and updated relatively quickly on my 7+.

Hello, just saying that another Swiss provider has esim activated since few weeks : Sunrise E8C926F3-E9BF-4A89-9CC5-E7EE1DA0997F.jpegE22D15A1-0311-4D27-B9BC-BE124E060FD8.jpeg

eSIM for Verizon:

"based on my account review here, we will just need to wait for Apple to send us a code for your phones and once we receive it we will activate the esim for you. Nothing to worry, once its activated we will let you know about it"

The XR has haptic touch whilst XS and X have 3D Touch

3D Touch is a toggle that can be turned off.

I've kept it off due to some annoyances. Basically, the 12.1.1 changelog makes it sound like the cheaper iPhone XR gets new functionality that my iPhone XS (with 3D Touch disabled) does NOT get.

The issue seems to be on the carrier side

Hence "expanded." It was somewhat of a sarcastic post, which now needs to be explained. But Apple should have worked w/ carriers prior to announcement of eSIM to make sure they were ready rather than blindly listing them as a partner. So Apple still has skin in this blame. (<-- This is a pun in case you missed it.)

Have they expanded eSIM support to carriers so that we can actually use eSIM?
eSIM support has been available to users since iOS 12.1. It's carriers in the United States who have stopped assigning eSIM to customers until iOS 12.1.1 releases, citing uncommon visual voicemail issues as the reason. Carriers outside the US have been adding eSIM support since iOS 12.1 came out.

Now that this update is out, I'm REALLY hoping that T-Mobile starts letting us switch to eSIM really soon. I'm tired of having to carry two phones around all the time.

While we are waiting for WatchOS 5.1.2 I‘ve received some subtile change on my Watch App.

I‘ve entered the Mobile Connection section in my watch app. That one was saying that there is no eSim available for my carrier (O2 Germany). Just a second later I‘ve received a profile update from my provider which changed the apperarnce of that page.

The Mobile Connection section says now, that a WatchOS update is required to use the Watch with my provider.

It seems that the carrier has published updated profiles today, but Apple did not release the updated WatchOS.

Is "Hey Siri" fixed once you use a shortcut!?

I say drive home, shortcuts then activates my favorite playlist and Waze.

One Waze is opened, "Hey Siri" ceases to work. Also, Bluetooth pauses for like a micro-second when switching apps and music is playing via Bluetooth.

Anyone!?

***Edit*** This issue has actually been addressed via the Shortcuts app being updated.

What about the upper speaker malfunction on iPhone XS/max???
Given that it's only a sporadic issue that some have noticed at times, it's probably a bit hard to tell if anything in relation to it has changed just yet.

And you really don't think it was part of Apple's responsibility to ensure that the major carriers they've listed as partners of eSIM were actually ready for it? I know people excuse Apple for a lot but that's quite the pass. Apple has, in the past, worked w/ carriers on major hardware updates to make sure it works. And even now, carriers are saying "they are working with Apple" to get this up and running. So why didn't Apple work with carriers before? Seems like a money grab by Apple to sell handsets that had a major feature that is 99.9% unsupported across the globe. Only EE in the UK supports it and I think Swisscom began support today, and they weren't even listed as one of the original 15. It's the same with the ECG feature in watches. A bunch of people bought it for that feature and it's still not available.

I don't usually get into the Mad at Apple game but this particular BS is inexcusable. Sell the physical dual SIM in the to the rest of the world if carriers can't support something this major that is part of why the cost of the phones has increased this much. Otherwise, we've paid for hardware that's unusable.

Believe me, I am equally mad at the carriers.
