Is this going to fix my green-bubble messages constantly saying "Number changed to Primary"? It does this for every single message that comes through, and it drives me nuts.
You will need to delete the messages from the persons involved, and text them yourself. After that, you should be (hopefully) free of the message.

Or, alternately, to add an eSIM for the foreign country you're in as you travel. Easier to add an eSIM right when you arrive than to go pick up a pSIM from a store.

Ask the person from whom you heard about the bugs o_O

True, but only a few countries have carriers that support eSIM. So for the time being it seems easier to do primary on eSIM. Obviously that may be different depending on your circumstances lol

I have 12.1.0. I heard 12.1.1 had bugs and not to update to it. I can see 12.1.2 is available and press "Download and Install". Should I go ahead and do it, or is there a reason to think this has major bugs in it and I shouldn't get it?
It's Apple, so "It Just Works", right?
There are those who have heard that 12.1 also has bugs and were encouraged not to update. It's like that practically with every update for years and years now (and not even just when it comes to iOS).

I’m not getting the update on my iPhone X. I had the latest 12.1.2 beta... removed the profile... rebooted... still no update available.
This is because the beta is a "newer" build then the current release GM. On my XS I see 12.1.2 (16D5024a) which would be more update to date then 12.1.2 GM (16C101).

Installing now, i've been running dual sim since AT&T went live with it from day one.

I ended up moving my AT&T line from nano to eSim, and putting my Verizon nano sim in the sim tray. Works great - eSim set to primary, Verizon (work line) set to secondary (which is voice only apparently).

Seems to be doing what it's supposed to do - allow me to use my $1000 unlocked phone as two phones. Will wonders never cease.

At least this way I can think of it as 2 $500 phones.

I was just kidding about the Apple "It Just Works". LOL, those days are long gone. Now its more like "Stand on one foot while chanting, deinstall and reinstall all devices, hard reboot, soft reboot, then hope it kinda works a little".

Seriously, I spend more time re-syncing devices, re-installing, etc. Trying to get my Apple Watch, Phone, iCloud, Pictures, etc to keep working together, is like a second job... OK, ending rant...

Regarding this update, obviously Apple must consider it a bit of an Emergency, yet they don't tell much in the release notes. Ok, I better stop before I start a rant about Apple's lack of disclosure on problems/issues.

"It's likely that iOS 12.1.2 is addressing a bug that Apple did not want to wait to fix."

I don't think Turkish users would rather wait either

Meant to. Doesn't always mean it does.

Got eSIM for $5 in the local ATT store. Old SIM was still in the slot - had data/i-net issues since then for about 2 days, then finally decided to remove old SIM and all troubles went away. Will try another SIM (different number) shortly - but this upgrade is downloading now (3 PM PST) .......

Here's a potential cool thing - your telephone number is embedded in the iPhone. In the event that someone steals it or you lose it, even if they wipe it out and try to reactivate it, it will automatically reactivate the internal SIM and possibly ping its location.

Not a cool thing at all. Means my number is tied up on a phone I don't have anymore. No thanks. Also any 2-step crap I have (from companies that still use it), goes to that phone. Yay for security! Means I am screwed. No, no and NO!
