I'm not seeing the benefit of using an eSIM unless using 2 lines. Am I missing anything?

In India, and some other SEA counties, more often you have mixed Sims to get the best deals on each network, from Data, SMS, to Calling.

For China, and many other countries, people often have two Phone number, one for work, and one for personal. You don't want to mix up the two. Especially if you are on field or Sales person.

For others, it means you could have your primary number, and a 2nd one when you are traveling. In a perfect world your primary one would have offer reasonable pricing for Data Roaming. In reality most of them are very expensive.

It only took 10 minutes to download and install and I found no issues with my iPhone x.

I updated last night, and I don't know if it's placebo or not but, while driving to work this morning I lost all signal. Now, the place I lost all signal is a spot I have lost it before, but often it's just slower 3G speeds. This time though, it was complete loss of signal, both LTE and voice. Could be a fluke, but I heard others complain about worse connectivity after this update. Time will tell.

Says the person who thinks they know everything. You don't have to be snarky. Okay.

This goes back to users not knowing and Apple offering the $29 battery replacement. 95% of users don't know anything about what Apple did with the throttling and saw their phone slow down and not knowing why. Then they go to Apple and get a new phone.

Yes I would rather have my phone just shut down and i would get a new battery and that would be that.

Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas!!

Apple today released iOS 12.1.2, the fourth update to the iOS 12 operating system since its September launch. iOS 12.1.2 comes just two weeks after the release of iOS 12.1.1, and one week after Apple seeded the first iOS 12.1.2 beta to developers.

The iOS 12.1.2 update is available exclusively on the iPhone and it can be downloaded over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. As with all iOS updates, iOS 12.1.2 is free to download. iPads and iPod touch models continue to run iOS 12.1.1, the prior version of iOS 12 released on December 5.

According to Apple's release notes, iOS 12.1.2 is a bug fix update that focuses on addressing issues with eSIM activation and a cellular connectivity issue in Turkey. From Apple's release notes:The timing of the iOS 12.1.2 release is curious as Apple often seeds more than one beta before launching a software update. It's likely that iOS 12.1.2 is addressing a bug that Apple did not want to wait to fix.

Today's iOS 12.1.2 release may also include software tweaks in China that remove patented Qualcomm functionality. A Chinese court last week issued an iPhone sales ban on certain devices in China after ruling that Apple had infringed on two Qualcomm patents related to resizing and reformatting photos and managing applications using a touch screen when using apps.

Apple said it would issue a software update for iPhone users in China to address "the minor functionality of the two patents at issue in the case."

eSIM functionality was first introduced in the iOS 12.1 update and expanded with iOS 12.1.1. In the U.S., T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T are all now supporting the eSIM feature, as are multiple other carriers around the world.

Update: The iOS 12.1.2 update is now available for download.

Update 2: This post has been updated to reflect the fact that it is only available for the iPhone.

To be fair, most typical customers who would experience something like that here and there would think their device isn't working right and look into getting a new one. That said, that's kind of neither here nor there as far as what this thread is about.

All I could think of, if your car battery dies, is the hapless person going to get a new car or take the car to a repair shop? Hopefully when people have issues with consumer electronics (and cars) some critical (maybe less than more, who knows) thinking goes on. That said, you're correct...neither here nor there.

Car analogies can certainly be useful, but also don't always correlate in a similar way--in this case a battery dying in a car is somewhat different than an electronic device that purely depends on the battery randomly dying (sometimes perhaps without someone even realizing that it happened only to find their device being off and not even being sure how long it has been off). Indeed, the way typical customers think about these things and approach them is different.

What are you going on about, have you you ever done a reset with a physical SIM? It does exactly the same thing. Two step if it’s a text isn’t connected to any device unless you trust your device which turns it off for that app only. The OP that you responded to hasn’t a clue either.

It's connected to a number. Read his post again before you go on a tirade.

I’m having wi-fi connectivity issues since this update. 4G is also spotty now.

Is this going to fix my green-bubble messages constantly saying "Number changed to Primary"? It does this for every single message that comes through, and it drives me nuts.
I don't follow. Where is it saying that? What phone/carrier are you using?

No but it's a reply to a comment, so yes it's relevant O/

Nope not fixed.

This is an issue i have had honesty with ever other iOS version. Last time was 10, before that 8. It lasted months with 8 and was only fixed with iOS 9. 10 took the 10.1 update.

Now it’s back. And even more inexcusable.

Green-bubble messages constantly saying "Number changed to Primary" is still an issue even after iOS update, iMessage toggled off and Network Settings both reset to "fake fix" the problem twice. Blue text came back but only lasted a short time before the hideous Green Bubble Bug™ jumped back into an iPhone 6s Plus.

Sounds more like faulty SIM provisioning by the carrier ... secondly I'd think about how the device is actioning a certain provisioning message. First I'd ask are you using a secondary line on your phone? Did you check said number is the primary with the carrier? Does this same sympton occur with another model or brand phone?

I dont know the full background so my initial thoughts and questions is to isolate the network since this is occuring after a message is received.

I don’t get it - how do we know that “number changed to primary” info is actually a bug and not a feature?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
