"iOS 12" bit is also my concern. Downloading on my X now anyway, was on the last 12.1 beta but removed the profile, then after a reboot it showed up.

Yeah I'm on the latest 12.1 beta with the profile removed on my iPhone 8 and I'm seeing 12 not 12.1 as the OTA offering too... not sure I trust that I'd be getting the right version and as it is showing as a full 2.46Gb download anyway I think I'll hang fire until I'm home from work and download the IPSW and update via iTunes.

Just contacted Verizon about eSIM.

Deanna: We're expecting Apple to release an update to Dual SIM in December to support CDMA networks, such as Verizon, on both lines. Once it's available, we'll be sure to let everyone know!

Deanna: Right now, we are waiting to ensure we're confident that you'll receive the full suite of voice and high-speed data services you expect from us on both lines. Once we are confident in that experience, you will be able to activate your eSIM with us.

Deanna: The XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR are eSIM capable - we're just waiting for Apple to smooth out the software kinks for CDMA carriers before we support it

With every update dropping in I keep asking myself when every possible Emoji to be invented has finally been shipped.

interesting....I received iOS 12 as well.....if I remember correctly iOS 12 is no longer signed so if it is really iOS 12 the update should shut down at the verification point....hmmm....is someone drinking at Apple?

Here's a line from the "About this Update" that may please some iPhone XS/XR users:
  • Improves cellular connectivity for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
I hope it really does fix it and not just show fake more bars.

After the update installed, I rebooted my phone again and was greeted with a message that “the maximum number of Wi-Fincaling devices have been activated on your account”. Oddly enough the same message popped up again after I hit OK. But then it connects to Wi-Fi calling normally. XS Max on AT&T. Also carrier version is now 34.0 and modem firmware is 1.01.30.

Also, there does not seem to be any corresponding HomePod update to 12.1, I’m not sure how frequently they plan to update the thing but I figured it would be in lock-step with everything else. Even the tvOS 12.1 doesn’t seem to have any new features. Installing watchOS 5.1 right now. These update days are getting out of hand!

Not fast for me - just went from showing 1 hour for download to 2 hours and I'm running on a 250gb network, so it's not my network.
took me 20 minutes -- from download to full install on my Xs, seems faster on WiFi now to test the cell signal outside which always is week (and never failed on 12.0 or 12.0.1 for me just 1-2 bars which is what all my iPhones see here at house

UPDATE: WiFI strong (never as bad as most though with this Xs). But first thing different is that I have seen (on X also) mostly 1-2 bars at my house. Its now running (in house 2-3 of the 4 bars) so wondering if it did indeed improve things for me in cell area. Hopefully so I had used Wifi for many years and iPhone versions to supplement the poor AT&T signal in my side of town (Note Verizon not good here either). I had hoped what I read indicated the Xs series would give me better in low signal areas (it goes like crazy in full four bars of LTE already before this update) Well will keep testing
