No change so far noticed with WIFI but I didn’t have as many major issues with WIFI some saw. My other iPhones always dropped to the 2.4 ghz on my AirPort Extreme after I got to far away or left and came back. None would go to my 5 ghz until I reselected it. So not a big change in that regard with my Xs. I will wait to return home and see if my Xs grabs the 5ghz or like previous iPhones requires me to select it.

I have weak AT&T in neighborhood. Verizon same just no close towers. Tended to be mostly 1bar sometimes 2 on all phones not any changes much on Xs with 12.0 or 12.01.

With 12.1 I got two cell bars consistently just now and with too many walls 1 bar. But for first time in house I got 3 bars a noticeable change i ran tests and am getting 22-25 mb down now with cell at house and 5-7 up.

So in conclusion 12.1 is major improvement over 12.0 and 12.01 for weak cell signals which i had hoped for with upgrading to the Xs. I am getting as I had hoped (finally) improvements over earlier phones and even my Xs on pre 12.1 iOS

AT&T is not supporting the eSim until later in the year. I was told they are having an issue with Visual Voicemail that they are trying to work out with Apple.

AT&T is not supporting the eSim until later in the year due to a issue with Visual Voicemail. Talk to Tech Support, iPhone help desk at AT&T.

I just went to the AT&T store. They did suggest they tried a week ago and it wasn't working, but we went ahead anyways and the eSIM provisioned just fine.

So AT&T is definitely supporting eSIM, not sure where you're getting your information from. Visual Voicemail also works just fine.

Okay, off to a store..
please let me know if it worked.
I am away in canada and sold my 2 phones and bought a xs max so i can have US and Canadian lines on a single phone while rogers wont support esim for 100 years i put my rogers sim in there.
I will have my wife go to store if it works.
thanks

Did you go into a AT&T store or talk to someone on the phone?

We went to a corporate store. They’ve never done it before but we’re willing to try. We already had Verizon sim and activated 2 new lines on AT&T. All 4 lines are working (2 phones, AT&T on esim and Verizon on physical sim). Just tried VVM again and both phones are working fine.

They do charge the $5 plus tax for the SIM card change, even though you're paying for a piece of cardboard. If they don't know what the eSIM is, tell them it's a box of blue cards with a QR codes printed on them.

My understanding is they got the cards a couple days ago, but no instructions on how the process works.

1a) Remove your existing SIM card for the line you plan to move to the eSIM
2a) Connect to a WiFi network in the store
1b) They change your IMEI and scan the ICCID on the blue card
2b) They go through the steps to change your SIM card and charge you $5+
3) You scan the QR code with your iPhone and you are giving a choice of "Primary" "Secondary" etc., you can change the labels later
4) The eSIM provisioning profile is downloaded from the AT&T server and service is activated
5) You'll need to re-enabled WiFi Calling and other stuff since you technically have swapped in a new SIM card now.

Re:
the update is available on all eligible devices over-the-air
is over the air only the wi-fi air and not LTE air? That's what my iPhone is telling me.

TIA

Anyone have al link to a carrier page where they are actually selling QR codes or whatever? In any country?

Weird. I haven't updated yet but earlier today my phone magically showed me 8 new voicemails from the last few days that had never appeared before. I guess this fix is in the cloud somewhere?

"Adds a performance management feature to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down, including the option to disable this feature if an unexpected shutdown occurs, for iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus "

Wait, what now? They supposedly said they had fixed the Throttling for X and 8 models last year.... nice Apple...

Can’t believe this bug is still present:

Also wtf. How is the flip function still so hard to use.

Mixed responses on how to get esim to work from AT&T. Anybody have any experience with the big pink - T-Mobile?

Just sharing my data point in this adventure:
I left the beta profile on my iPhone XS, it wouldn't upgrade over the air. So I used the IPSW update from the apple dev site and can verify it had the latest build afterwards (16B92). Then the iPhone said it needed to update to beta 5 (??) So I did. now it is at build 16B5089b again. That's odd - will wait a few days, perhaps the betas are on a different development path than the general release?
Also, spoke to ATT and was told I had to wait until a later iOS release because they (Apple/ATT) were having issues with voicemail.
