Apple Releases iOS 12 With Faster Performance, Memoji, Siri Shortcuts, Screen Time, Revamped Maps App, ARKit 2.0, and More

Impressed coming from iOS 11, no beta. Smooth and snappy :)
Sadly won't be so impressed with MacOs 10.14 since running that in an extremly stable beta

Was hoping they would provide a close all option for Safari tabs which are open. Still have to close or swipe each one.
you can already do that, i can't remember how exactly and my phone is currently updating... i think you force touch or long press on the tabs icon...

I’m using th GM, but I believe the option is still in there for the full release: When you’re in safari and zoom out to all your open tabs, hold the “dome” button in the bottom right and the “close all tabs” option pops up.

So far, after running iOS 12 for a little over an hour, I haven’t seen a single frame drop on my iPhone. I haven’t been able to say that about any iOS release after iOS 6. I’m impressed.

Edit: Spoke too soon. Went into the Nest app and I’m seeing dropped frames all over the place while scrolling. Oh well, at least the frame drops appear to be fewer, in general.

This was introduced in like iOS 9 or 10.

To people already running the GM, I had a carrier settings update on AT&T to 33.1. The GM came with 33.0, I’m guessing this update (33.1) was timed to be installed with today’s iOS 12 release, but if you were already on iOS 12, you’ll either need to plug into iTunes or go to Settings —> General —> About to trigger the Carrier Settings update.

iTunes 12.8.0 says update available but, nothing happens when you click download and install. No spinning download indicator in upper right corner, nothing. OTA works though... Anyone else having issues updating with iTunes ?

I don't understand the point of nightly do not disturb? Why not just turn on airplane mode? Saves battery in addition to obviously blocking notifications.

Anyone having an issue with personal hotspot on the iPhone? Mine keeps reverting to off when I leave that screen.

Just updated my iPad Air 2. Hilarious amount of empty space at the top of my screen, compensating for that stupid notch some of the iPhone devices have.

Hope the space doesn’t go to waste on normal devices though.

iOS 11 beta is 100% completely different than iOS 12 beta. It's the longest beta they've ever run and it shows. The focus with 12 was to clearly iron out the plethora of issues they had with 11. I have no stake in whether you update now or in 2 months, but very little is going to change in that time. :):):):):):):):)
Sounds great hope youre righT!

Shame apple doesnt allow iOS downgrades...

Three attempts, so far the update keeps on failing. The two first times, I would even lose the entire download and would have to start again. Third time, the download stays there but the update flags a lack of space on my iPhone 6s 64Gb. Great, so I do uninstall a couple of apps and data to cover what is needed. And yet, after a long process of trying to install the update, another alert that it didn't work.

Any idea on what is happening and what I can do to fix it?

(another thing: please stop with your "nothing yet" and so on, and the conspiracy theory that MacRumors is released this article before the update is available to you. You are adding no important info. On my side, I could see the update 10 minutes after it was released, which is fine!)

I would try to update it via iTunes.

Also, Apple *does* release their updates at 10 Pacific sharp, but the updates are delivered via CDN. It takes time for the updates to propagate across all of their CDN’s, and as the years have gone by they have no doubt added more distribution servers, which also takes time to upload across. Which results in the +10-15 minutes for most people to see the update show up.

iCloud Backup and batch upload of photos and videos to iCloud are good reasons to have WI-FI connectivity at night.
