They're already doing that.

(13.2 will likely come with Deep Fusion, for example.)

But some of the foundational changes, especially ones affecting third-party developers, should be prioritized for the .0. And that didn't go quite as planned.

I agree.

I have to laugh at the comments about Shortcuts on HomePod.

All we hear on MR is how lousy the HomePod is and how nobody is buying them. Then suddenly when a HomePod bug appears it's a disaster? How can a bug on something nobody has be a disaster?

The Mail app is horrible.
The Camera app shutter speak is super slow.
The Haptic Feedback response time is SLOOOOWWW!!!
My HomeKit App haven't work properly since updating to iOS 13 and tvOS 13.

Apple! WHY did I upgrade if THIS is going to be the experience?

The bug is a bug even if nobody buys HomePod. The bug is a disaster for those few who did buy the device.

Why do iOS updates take so long to install? This update was very small compared to most and still took forever preparing, verifying, and installing. Can’t they make these smaller updates install faster, like a hot patch or something?

If we’re at the point where we’re getting a new update every few days, they should make them install faster.

iPhone 11 Pro now stuck with Apple logo and a spinning circle, after trying to install this update. Won't turn off or restart. Any ideas on a fix for this?

Way to miss the point. If an issue exists on only 1 out of 100 iPhones in the real world for some reason 1 out of 2 posters on MR will have the issue. I find that rather interesting that some people seem to be affected by every single bug/issue that ever comes out.

XR user - I only installed 13.1 from 12. It was pretty stable out of the door. There is a slightly rough around the edges feeling to it but nothing too bad.

I would much prefer Apple to pull back on launch day featuresfocus on stability & then gradually roll out features.

Maybe even stagger the release of iOS so that only the new iPhones get the latest iOS with everyone getting it a few weeks later.

it’s clear that the September ‘Big Bang’ launch day is killing the software team as iOS and MacOS are getting more and more complex.

Honestly very pleased at the pace and frequency of updates, though it should not be necessary if they kept ambitions vs. bugs in check.

Has Apple ever patched their GM this many times in the course of 2 weeks?

No, but they've had to withdraw updates due to bugs. That's much worse than a couple bug fix releases (13.1 was not a bug fix release).

Personally, I wish they'd fix bugs more often. Some of these don't sound like critical fixes, so this gives me some temporary hope Apple will push fixes out as they're ready instead of bundling them up in such large updates that they break almost as much as they fix.

Shortcuts for Siri on HomePod are now a proper mess, it can't give me a weather report via Carrot without Siri going nuts and asking me the same questions over and over only requesting music seems to end the loop. It usually can't set my Hue lights, saying I have no HomeKit devices. Sometimes it does the requested light change but answering with an error message

Only problem with that is, is when Apple releases new Watch models they come with the latest of watchOS installed and they're only compatible with the latest version of iOS. So if you're someone that has an older iPhone and buy the newest model Apple Watch that'll be a problem if Apple does what you suggest. That means new Watch owners will have to wait till the latest version of iOS is released for their older model iPhones.

Managed to get it turned off by pressing volume up, volume down and holding power. Now it won't turn back on.

That’s a really good point.

Well then just make the initial iOS major point release more of a foundational release that supports the latest IOS devices and the Watch and that prioritises stability with one or two key features - dark mode springs to mind with iOS 13.0

Then have the next round of major user feature updates coming with the traditional October/November ‘emoji’ update aka the one that most regular people update to because you know... new emojis.

Finally we could have some nice quality of life updates in March - maybe more built in app focused.
