Updated my XR and so far I'm enjoying the new update. Its taking some getting used to figure out how much id like to utilize dark mode, and getting used to some of the larger tiles and favorites in safari. but that's fine. The only thing that I'm not a big fan of that I've already accedtly used a few times, is when i go to share a webpage or photo to either use airplay, email it, or whatnot. Theres a row on the top that shows most recent contacts texted. its kinda distracting and ive accidentally sent a webpage already. i know there's new siri and search options. But do we know how to remove this from the share option.

Just realised that iOS 13 has completely ruined the podcasts app on my iPhone 8 Plus. There is now no way (that I can see) to preview an episode and read the show notes before deciding if its of interest. This is a major problem for me, as I am a prolific podcast listener and I regularly used the preview.

I must surely be missing something obvious...it’s absolutely absurd!
Overcast!

Thank you for this suggestion. Seems like a good app.

However, I had been missing something obvious. There's a "details" option to tap on for each episode in Apple's app! Previously I just used to 3D Touch into the episode to get the details, but this no longer works in iOS 13, even long press. Hey ho. Crisis averted anyway.

I don’t like the new App Store layout, the new volume slider looks a bit rubbish but at least it’s in a better locations now!
But it seems like it may have improved cellular reception? Needs further testing really. Not sure about the dark mode.
I totally agree: the App Store is even more bloatware than before. It is oriented at serving us what Apple wants to serve us, not at being a resource that focuses on us. It is an app that breathes desperation and over-functionality.
Updating is mostly the only thing I need it to do, and always I am being waterboarded with commercial stuff - it gives a spam experience.

Good thing: press hold the app icon, and choose ‘Updates’. At least their is a way to circumvent the forced experience.

I dunno if that might help some, but the dreadful memoji functionality in messages was not easy to remove on my device.
I tried to delete it by pressing the three dots, then swiping the thing.
Tried the delete button too.

Both kept the thing stuck in place.
but AFTER changing it’s position using the reordering function with the parallel lines, I could delete it from favourites.
After that, I could delete it completely.

Makes me happy!

(Sorry, no screen caps, it’s gone:p)

Ah thanks for the tip, I’ll maybe use that, yeah the way they’ve now buried your app updates is stupid and driven towards you selecting auto update, which I don’t like in case the update is full of bugs!
I agree with your statement, it’s definitely driven heavily towards advertising, and I don’t like having Arcade at the bottom now as I’ll never use it, that should be optional if it’s there or not. But Apple doesn’t do options..

Hmm, no: if you deleted the public beta certificate, you should be seeing the official update (soon).
I either see no update available or it prompts me to download 13.1, beta 4. All while the certificate is deleted and the phone restarted. Strange..

I know one thing the copy/paste function in certain areas is really broken on iOS 13. Most of the time it won’t paste, also the select all option doesn’t appear either.

I read about this in some other thread in here. Some had to delete the profile twice as it stuck after a first attempt or something like that.

Thanks! But how do you delete it twice when it’s not there anymore..? It’s really strange on my phone: keeps changing between “you’re up to date” and “here’s iOS 13.1 beta 4”...
I’ll check the forums but should you happen to find that thread again, let me know! :)

Okay, I found another thread here leading to a support page from Apple which implies we may simply have to wait until 13.1 comes out next week:
“If you installed iOS 13 Beta or the Public seed, and you want to remove the iOS Beta Profile from your device, remove the profile, then install iOS 13.1 when it's released on September 24."

Apple today released iOS 13, the newest operating system designed for the iPhone and iPod touch. iOS 13 is available on the iPhone 6s and later and the 7th-generation iPod touch.

My SE phone updated OK but my ipod 7 wouldn't. This is weird because the ipod 7 is much newer than the SE phone. Maybe I'll get the ipsw for the ipod 7 but I shouldn't have to. It should just update OTA just like the SE phone did.

EDIT. Actually I have worked out why my ipod 7 won't update. There is no update for the ipod 7. The original story is wrong. It is only for iphones, not ipod 7s. There actually is no ipsw either.

Here's proof. This is the full list of ipsw's from the developer site. As you can see they are ONLY for iphones, not ipods.

I also have a theory why ios13 was released only for iphones today. Because the new watch 5 which comes with watchos 6 - only works with iphones on ios 13. And since most of the preordered watch 5's should be delivered now, all the compatible iphones have to be updated to ios 13 so they can work with watch 5.

ipods are actually irrelevant to the watch 5/ios 13 issue - hence no update for ipod 7.

This ios update strangely has a lot more to do with the watch 5 than iphones. And if you have a compatible iphone you would have got the update - even if you don't have a watch 5!

Well, that is probably assuming you are in the boat of the (latest) iOS13.1 beta...

I found the post(s) that came up to my mind, but nothing really helps there tho:
Removing profile and rebooting brings profile back. Just turn off auto update and dont update manually.

Oopsy.

That article says not to update to ios 13 because of a vulnerability and apple will fix it in ios 13.1.

So in light of this - and the true reason for this release (compatibility with watch 5) maybe we can modify this to say

DON'T UPDATE TO IOS 13 - UNLESS YOU HAVE A WATCH 5.

Here is further proof that the original macrumors story is wrong about it being available for ipod 7.

Near the bottom of the page at https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-13/ it says the update will be available for ipod 7 on September 24, 2019.

But that will probably come as 13.1, not 13.

I have been wondering about this too. I have a new ipod seventh generation and I have tried multiple times to update it but iOS 13 doesn't seem to be available? Why?

oohhh okay question answered. I love you (platonically)

I went from 180 GB’s available to 14 with this update. I thought it was still indexing something, but woke up this morning and there’s still no change...

Anyone else’s battery health go down since updating to iOS 13? My XS Max was at 99% battery health and it instantly dropped to 97% after the update!
