So how's that new software development process working out?

What? You remember that? The Cinematic Mode and Photographic Styles and Live Text and Visual Lookup did nothing to make you forget that endeavour they were supposed to undertake?

Oooof. You are one tough customer! Actually wanting them to deliver on that process!

For real, besides Live Text which I can see myself using a couple times, enough with these novelty camera features. Yes they do amazing things for a phone camera. But I don't know who Apple is trying to target these to. Do they really think professional filmmakers are going to use an iPhone 13 to film movies.

I was one of those that, after updating from a 12 Pro to a 13 Pro, saw a massive difference between available storage on my 12 (~180/256 GB) vs. my 13 (~230/256 GB). That additional 50 GB was both unexpected and shocking. When digging into the issue, I noticed both my Photos and Messages apps were using significantly more storage on my 13 than my 12. WTF?

In my obsessive quest to unravel the riddle, one MR forum member recommended keeping the device plugged in and locked as often as possible and that "in a couple of weeks" everything would be back to expected levels. And sure enough, I noticed the levels on my 13 begin to slowly drop. Today they sit at 171 GB - which is nearly 10 GB lower than what I was expecting. I'll take it!

Anyway, made for my weirdest iPhone delivery day (and susequent days) experience I have known. Just glad things are back on track. Now I can shift my focus to that incredible camera bump. ;)

Was hoping 15.1 today…oh well😎
Not sure why you were expecting 15.1 today, we just got Beta 3 less than a week ago.
My prediction is that we will see a beta 4 either later this week or early next week, possibly a beta five the following week, and then we will see it launch alongside Monterey a couple days after the MacBook Pro event.
My prediction is either October 26 or November 9.

In addition to Youtube I am also having touch target and/or scrolling issues with Safari - I don't understand how this wasn't caught after 3 months of testing. Also putting maps in the background with Apple music causes the app to crash - I don't recall this ever happening before.

Is 15.1 working better for you? I can't put 15.1 on my work provided phone

also, all of these very specific bug fix updates are just another reason why I believe that Apple should separate built in applications from the operating system itself.
I assumed that they would have done this back when they made built in apps deletable and reinstallable from the App Store, but apparently not.
There is absolutely no reason why a simple messages and photos app fix needs an entire operating system update, just update the messages and photos apps on their own.
Not only would this be better because it would just be more convenient to have your apps update automatically instead of having to update the entire software, but it also would mean that actual software update sizes could shrink dramatically, and bug fixes could be pushed out even quicker.
Instead of having to wait for their to be enough bug fixes to justify releasing an entire update, they can just quickly update the Messages app and fix a bug a couple hours or days after it was found.

Not sure what the other poster is referring to, but for me vertical scrolling gets supper juttery as it’s slowing down. Like if you flick down a page, it’s super smooth at first, then as it slows to a stop there’s very jarring stuttering as the refresh rate decreases. Looks awful.
I noticed this too. I compared my 13 Pro with my wife's Note 20 Ultra since they both share the same display. Note 20 Ultra didn't suffer from this issue when displaying the same image. It seems Apple's programming on refresh rate winding down is too aggressive.

If only they spent 1/3rd of that money and effort into developing the software and usability as against creating gimmick features for newborns to get googly-eyed about.

I'm surprised 15.1 isn't out yet.
I'm not. I wouldn't expect it for another, oh, 2-4 weeks. These are focused bugfixes knocking down particular problems that they feel are urgent enough to warrant handling ahead of 15.1 (that doesn't mean that the ones in 15.0.1 and 15.0.2 are the only such - there may be more to come). 15.1 will address a large variety of problems, and will require a lot more testing before it's released.
